Great article in which leaves me thinking I could be dissapointed if we DONT end up with Townes.

What if Towns becomes what Andrew Bynum would of been without the knee injuries? There was a time in Bynum's career where he was considered the best true center in the league. Has anyone compared the dimensions of Townes wingspan versus Bynum?

And Favors and Henson would be awful fits next to a low-post C since neither is a great shooter.

(Also, you're forgetting Anthony Davis).

Henson isn't really a defensive minded PF.

Davis, Ibaka, Favors, Gibson, Draymond Green, Chris Bosh, Noel, soon to be Kristaps Porzingis.

Towns is comparable to Bynum physically, Bynum was bigger, longer and stronger, but they have similar body types, top heavy, small legs, Towns have worse feet but has shown more mobility and obviously has a different mind and brain, more maturity.

Towns reminds me of Pau Gasol/Horford hybrid, he will be pretty good if he has no injuries and his bust rate is almost none, unless injuries happen, he is going to be a versatile big and a great 2nd/3rd option, defensively he is never going to be a flashy player or a domiannt one, but he should be solid, he has some deficiencies, like every player, but they can be work out with strong perimeter defense and some special settings, especially with the mothern game and the switching.

The thing is, there are 3-4 guys in this Draft for me with a higher ceiling than Gasol/Horford, so it is difficult to justify picking Towns 1st, even though, unless injuries, and again his body type is risky, he is a really safe prospect.

Bynum without the attitude and with a jumper has been my Towns comp all season. He's 7' 250lbs with a 9'5" reach and, as Cal was quoted as saying, he's just growing into his body. I think he'll be in that 265 to 270 range when he fills out and be a Bynum-like specimen.

The Pau Gasol comparison isn't bad for Towns, but still downplays some aspects of his game.

Ceilings:

Towns- Bigger, better 3-point shooting, top-5 blocking Pau Gasol
Okafor - Bigger, .500 Free throw rate, better passing Al Jefferson
Russell - Smaller/PG version of Ginobili w/ worse D
Mudiay - Rich man's Jrue Holiday(?)
Winslow - Poor Man's Harden on O, poor man's MKG on D
WCS - More explosive, headcase (?) Tyson Chandler

Those are my ceilings/comparisons for the top guys in this draft (minus Porzingis, who I have no idea who to compare to).

I'd say that Towns' potential ceiling is the best with Russell a fairly close second.

Winslow more of a jimmy buttler. Doesn't move and carve defenses in the half court like harden that's more Russel. His end to end is similar. Towns back to the basket is very similar to bynum only bynum thought he could shoot, towns CAN shoot. I heard they went to the same high school and ppl were saying towns was the much better player.

Winslow is similar to Harden in that they're both all 3s, layups, and FTs. I don't like the Russell-Harden comparison because Russell doesn't play like that. Russell is much more mid-range oriented.

Karl Anthony-Towns is not the same quality passer or ball-handler that Pau Gasol is, nor does he possess the same level of footwork. He will be very good, but either Pau Gasol is being underrated or you are jumping the gun on Karl Anthony-Towns' abilities in my opinion.

I really think Stein will be the evolution of big man defenders. He can guard people on the perimeter better than any big man in the nba right now and hes a legit 7 feet. hes a fast twitch athlete that can swat like ibaka and ontop of all that his jump shot is good enough not to be a foul target late game. He would also be the perfect alley oop target for Rubio. I hope that flip somehow can get him with an combination of this years second rounders and either gorgui dieng/muhammad/bjelica. Cauley-Stein will be the Defensive anchor on any team he goes to, maybe not his first year but definitely in the near future. There are so many undervalued guys (kaminsky, t jones, grant) to name a few that could really help teams pretty quickly. I hope we get two good players out of this draft!

You're underrating Towns' passing and ball-handling.

nor does he possess the same level of footwork.

This is true, but his footwork is developing, and I think he'll eventually at least be close.

So when exactly are the workouts going to take place?

I want to see news of Okafor, Towns and Russell interviewing/working out for us.

Towns to me is a more athletic Andrew Bogut, but isn't quite the passer Bogut is. I see him being the 2009-2010 Bogut 16 points, 10 boards, 2.5 blocks. Solid all around big who can shoot.

Okafor is Brad Daugherty. Great post players who are solid rebounders who play average defense and aren't shot blockers.

Russell reminds me of Brandon Roy. Fun players to watch.

The Winslow comparison to Jimmy Butler works for me and if I'm the Knicks he is my guy at for provided none of the big 3 are there.

Porzingis is fun to watch on the highlights, but he is so skinny. I would love if Flip could move up to get him without trading Wiggins, Rubio, Muhammed, or LaVine. Doubtful though.

Towns isn't going to work out for us or the Lakers. I'm waiting for news too. Sort of a boring period of time.

What, why? Didn't Anthony Davis workout for the Hornets even though he knew he was going #1?

Probably Towns' agent's decision. He knows his client is going top 2 so he doesn't have anything to gain by working out. I'm sure his agent wants him to go to the bigger market team as well and maybe be things doing this will help that. Who knows. Towns probably wouldn't mind coming here, but agents want to maximize value first and foremost.

Though it would be nice, doesn't make much sense really imo. He knows for a fact that he is going top 2 and probably in his mind he is happy with either spot for vastly different reasons.
