I'd say being one of the best 3 point shooters in the league (Bruce Bowen) qualifies you as a two-way player. Even Matt Barnes shot 36% from three. He's a serviceable offensive player that you actually have to guard. There's a pretty wide gulf from those percentages to Roberson's embarrassing 24% from 3. Apples and oranges.

I was not aware that 3 point shooting was the end-all be-all of offensive ability. That must be why Russ is a liability.
“If you're getting stops and you're making threes and the other team's not scoring, that's when you're going to see a huge point difference there,” coach Billy Donovan said.

FYI, I'm not a Coach Nick guy, but here's a Billy D video, some good stuff, some not as much, and an interview w/ a guy who used to play for him and is now a coach:

It certainly isn't, but let's not pretend that Roberson was cutting all over the floor or something like that. Most of the time he was standing in a corner being wide open.
"I don't know of any player that, when the shot goes up, he doesn't want it to go in," Donovan said

Also, here's a fun stat: Roberson appears in 7 of the top 9 OKC lineups. If you take the following lineup:

Westbrook/X/KD/Ibaka/Adams, and X is Roberson, the lineup is a +15.0 points per 100 possessions.

Make X Waiters and its -9.9.
Make X Reggie Jackson this year and it was -22.6.

OKC Thunder Offseason 2015

Mike Malone is at the top of my lead assistant wish list.

If not Mike then Monty would be okay.

I'm a Mike Malone fan as well. He'd be the first assistant I would go after, especially before he finds a job somewhere else. I don't expect him to be out of work too long.

If Mike Malone was able to control DeMarcus Cousins and earn a player like his respect, I have no doubt players like Russ would respect him as a coach. Get it done Presti.
OKC Thunder fan, too.

The only thing I kinda wonder is if they need a defensive assistant. Donovan's thing was defense, I feel like an offensive assistant may be more needed. I'd be thrilled w/ Malone anyway, but I don't know what they need.

Billy needs to bring in D'antoni to run the offense and Malone to run the defense then it is hello Larry.

Wasn't that seen as a Monty weakness, that in late game situations his plays lacked structure and it was often just give the ball to AD?

What is going to happen with all the players OKC potentially might have?

Westbrook-Augustin-Christon*
Morrow-Waiters-Lamb
Durant-Roberson-Singler*-Huestis*
Ibaka-McGary-Collison-Jones-Novak
Adams-Kanter*
plus the two pick, although I guess n48 is going to be a stash one.

It makes sense to make a move before the draft, doesnt it? for a better stablished wing and depth.
Some targets that make sense, Avery Bradley, Wilson Chandler, Nicolas Batum,...

I think you might be able to get Batum for Roberson, Jones, Novak, Lamb or some sort of pack like that.

Christon will be in the D League, Huestis likely the same. Roberson stays and likely starts, Lamb, PJ, Novak, Waiters may be movable, but don't know. The real depth chart would be:
Westbrook/Augustin
Roberson/Morrow/Waiters/Lamb
Durant/Singler/Jones/Novak
Ibaka/McGary/Collison
Kanter/Adams

So they gotta move someone to make a roster spot, my guess is one of Novak or PJ.

I think there is a good chance of a reasanobly bigger trade, there some attainables wings for cheap that will make the team much better.
Getting Wilson Chandler for Lamb, Jones and Augustin, for example, could be a great move.

Westbrook-Payne-Christon
Chandler-Morrow-Waiters
Durant-Roberson-Huestis
Ibaka-McGary-Novak
Adams-Kanter-Collison

Letting Singler walk.
Batum could be an option too, throwing in Waiters to that offer, and Novak as a salary filler, or something like that.

I don't see a way Augustin is traded, but the others are possible. They wouldn't have a rookie as the only viable backup PG. Not after last year.

Actually, bringing in a guy like this helps take the Bullets off the "KD might leave" rhetoric list.
But if we are not as successful as i think we can be next season, we might have to start worrying about the Warriors.

They're gonna have too much cap manuevering to do, plus I don't see KD having any interest there.

With the cap increase and David Lee coming off their books they would have enough to sign KD outright to a max deal. That also depends on how much Draymond Green gets, assuming they keep him, and they might need to move someone like Iguodala to free up space if they pay Green. However, if KD is wanting to go there I'm sure they could get someone to take Iguodala for a 2nd round pick. I just don't see KD going to play on Curry's team. It would still be Curry's team just like Miami was still Wade's team when LeBron went there. I just don't see KD doing that, although I could be wrong.

I can see KD wanting to play in DC before his career is over, but he could also do that as a end of career thing. He could also decide that he would rather be like Duncan, Kobe, Hakeem, etc who are associated with one team for their whole career. It really depends on how the year plays out and if he does come back 100%. If he's not the same player then him going to a team like Golden State could be appealing to him. However, if he comes back as good as new I don't see him jumping to a team where it wouldn't be considered his team. If he goes to DC it would be his team not Wall's. The Warriors, Cavs and Pelicans that wouldn't be the case as they would still be Curry's, LeBron's or Davis' team.
