Wolves love him for some reason, or should I say Flip is doing his old college buddy a favor by favoring his client Okafor. Plus I'd rather have Towns at #2 just because of his defensive potential alone.

you can't go wrong with the top 3, but i think Okafor will be a dominant force in the NBA, like DeMarcus Cousins, while a see Town will have Noah-like impact.

I'm not sure about that comparison. Does Towns pass and play defense like Noah? I see Towns as a bigger Al Horford with better shot-blocking skills and more range on his jumper.

I'm high on him. While his per was only average this year, you can tell by watching him that he is going to be a Gobert level defender in a few years time. He is 7'0 with a massive standing reach and the agility of a guard. He also shows decent touch on his jumper out past 15 feet. When that improves he'll be a prototypical big man for the 'New Nba'.

After that, the Lakers focus on finding an offensive game changer like KD or Russ Westbrook and the others bits will come together. KD is close to maturity and once he is healthy again he is going to be a monster, I think the Lakers are in a position to put a championship team around him. Westbrook I think is fools gold.

I'd think about it, and then realize that Okafor has the best post game since Tim Duncan and that you don't pass that up for an offensively-challenged big.

The NBA right now is officially favouring (by way of the rules) guard play. Post play has almost disappeared as a mainstay of any offense and you're starting to see guards get higher TS% than big men. Okafor is a great player, extremely gifted as a post operator but this NBA won't allow him to function as such. His lack of defense will make him a fringe +- player if he plays starters minutes. He will be the starting Centre on a treadmill team.

Someone like Nerlens Noel will play a similar role to Tyson Chandler or Andrew Bogut. Statistically nothing much to write home about, but absolute game changers. The thing is Noel, is going to better than either ever was. He has better athleticism, quicker hands and shows promise on his stroke.

Anyways, just a thought. The more I see of Okafor, however, the less I like. I think Towns will be much better.

Noel is a horrible offensive player. His fg% was so bad that at times he was shooting worst than guards. He has zero post game.
He is essentially Deandre Jordan, without the fg%.
He is young and he still has time to improve though.

The draft can't come soon enough.

Can't wait to get one of these 2 bigs.

I keep vacillating between the two bigs, but the most recent vids got me hyped for Towns!

Bulls forum posted a tweet by their official team acct....says LA is offering 27th/34th for 22nd. I like that idea, would get us in range for one of the better SF's. Buy a 2nd if need be and draft/stash a euro.

Yeah that'd put us in the Looney range if Washington/Toronto don't pick him at 19/20.

Would be a great pickup if we snab looney

We could got a potential offensive anchor / two way big (okafor/towns) + a great versatile glue guy from this draft (looney)

How freaking crazy if this happens...

Lakers draft Jahlil Okafor #2.
Lakers trade #27 and #34 for #22 and draft Kevon Looney.
Lakers sign Kevin Love as a FA.
Lakers sign Al-Farouq Aminu as a FA.

PG Jordan Clarkson, Vander Blue, Ronnie Price
SG Kobe Bryant, Jabari Brown
SF Al-Farouq Aminu, Nick Young, Kevon Looney
PF Kevin Love, Julius Randle, Ryan Kelly
C Jahlil Okafor, Tarik Black

That's the absolute best case scenario and it could be a borderline playoff team if we get a good year out of Kobe. I wouldn't even be surprised if Looney grabs the starting spot at SF over Aminu halfway into the season.

I'd go D specialist SF like Rondae Hollis-Jeff (if still there) or Justin Anderson (most likely still there).
I think Looney is gone in the top 15.

It'll be perfect when we go full UCLA and nab Westbrook the following offseason. Or whenever he's a FA. :wizard:
