The problem is I don't think Porzingis slides that far and if he did, I'm not sure Detroit makes that deal.

Porzingis/Okafor would be a pretty bad defensive duo.

Maybe initially, but as long as he can put on 20 pounds, which he should, he'll be an elite weak side shot blocker and his on ball defense should be at least adequate.

Idk. Being a true 7fter doesn't make you automatically a good defender. Nowitzki certainly isn't a good defender.

I have seen far too little from Porzingis to evaluate but he is supposed to have a bad defensive motor. Not sure if you want to put him next to another relatively poor defender in Okafor then.

Towns/Porzingis would probably fit better.

Per 36 (or 40) Porzingis averaged 4 blocks a game in the junior league. Also looks like he can be an elite pick and roll defender.

I know Flip really like Porzingis, do we have the assets to make that happen? I think Porzingis is a nice pair with Okafor, because he can space the floor and offer some rim protection. He is just so skinny it's scary. I think it will take him 3 years to develop.

Even in interviews post lottery Flip continues to gush about Porzingis. If he has an opportunity to get a **** blocking 4, he will likely take Okafor.

Where are these interviews? Do you have a link, I really want to watch them.

Go to the Timberwolves soundcloud page.

I listened to the post-lottery interview on sound cloud, he didn't even mention porzingis, was it in that interview? Listened to the whole thing, and then re-skimmed it.

Even after the lottery, he said Porzingis "might be the most talented player in the draft." (Bareirro interview)

Not on me, but it was the Bareirro show the day after the lottery.

Most expect that he'll measure in at 7'2" when comes over in a couple weeks, and I think he'll have a crazy wingspan to go with that. He set the Euro U18 shot blocking record at 5 per game, as a comparison Jonas V was 2.5 in the U18, and Porzingis finished in the top 6 in the ACB in shot blocking this year despite limited minutes and being only 19. He might struggle in man to man, but he will be an elite weak side shot blocker.

Porzingis is not attainable unless you burn both LaVine and Muhammad plus your 2nd rounders.

Then it's not worth it. I wouldn't trade either one for Porzingis let alone both. If we pick Okafor he would be a great fit next to him with his shooting on offense to create space and his shot blocking presence on defense to make up for the lack of shot blocking Okafor gives.

I don't think anybody is giving us a top 9 pick for Bjelica + Bazz/Dieng. And I don't think anything lower than #9 is valuable enough for us to give up both Bjelica and Bazz/Dieng.

I think to get into the top 10 will require at least two trades. First get into the top 10-15. The Heat is a team looking to make the playoffs now. A #10 isn't really going to move the needle with their prospective lineup next year:

Dragic/Wade/Dieng/Bosh/Whiteside.

What they need are great vets for their bench. Guys like Martin/Pek/Bud might actually draw their interest. Martin would be a great bench scorer for them, plus could start when Wade is hurt. He sort of fits the Wade mold a bit so he could be a drop-in piece for them. Doing something like Martin + Bazz/Payne/Bennett/LaVine + 35 for #10 and bad contract might get you there.

Then you do a follow up trade to get to 8. Something like #10 + #31 + Payne/Bennett for #8 plus bad contract. Then either continue to try to get down to Knicks pick, but at least if you are top 8 you have a really good chance of getting a total stud piece for your core.

You will have to give 31 for a team to get Bennett out of your hands, those trades are just unreasanoble.
Miami could be interested in Martin, in exchange of Mario Chalmers, not giving up 10th overall, unless you throw LaVine, and that will be downright stupid.

Payne and Bennett have no value whatsoever.

Bennet has value as an expiring which people are using to try and take on longer contracts.

Nemanja Bjelica wants 3 year 15 million deal. Sounds like he will most likely be traded.

It's a fairly reasonable request, $5m isn't much anymore.

Return to Minnesota Timberwolves
