Melo is the new Starbury? Remember when folks used to blame Marbury for everything and not just bad things that happen specifically for the Knicks?

Marbury did much less damage but ok.

Considerably. Why?

ok i love it.

Knicks trade the #4 pick(Winslow or Porzingis) + Calderon

for

#5 pick Mudiay

holy crap if phil pulls that off he is a freaking genius, we could get Aldridge + Gasol. any reason orlando wouldn't do it?

I have no idea how it would play out. In Phil We Trust.

Oh, you think the "annoying" is over once the draft is done?

You're right Haw. But all of this nonsense is making me testy, as well.

Well, it assumes Orlando wants one and ONLY one of those two players, and that the Knicks can determine who that player is and convince Orlando they're really going to select that player.

I would pick Mudiay based off of upside but for example what if he absolutely tanks his workout for us? And Winslow kills it. I'm just curious, we aren't seeing any this first hand so really no one knows.

Ultimately it's up to Phil Jackson and his team to pick the best man remaining when their picks comes up.

But...assuming nothing in any workout greatly improves or damages any of these players it would make little sense to be to take a short SF with an average wingspan that is considered to have a slow release on his shot (which could be an issue in the NBA). Yes, he can dunk if given a open path and he defends well but what he has the trappings for is a role player in the NBA. At least from my POV.

I would be OK with Ibra's idea: trade our pick for two lower picks (Payne or Grant and Lyles or Kaminsky). Two good prostpects and we shed Jose's contract in the process... I like Payne a lot, though... confident and inteligent player!!

If that happens, prepare yourselves for this lineup:

New Gallo
Wade
Melo
WCS
Monroe

Then he has to have some idea he is going in that range because it wouldn't be wise for him to slip past the knicks and not have workouts scheduled for teams in the 5-7 area just in case he does slip.

Last year, Exum only worked out for the top 4 and ended up going 5th.

Orlando might have no need for Mudiay but they might really really want Winslow or Porzingis. You can call up orlando and say Denver or Sacremento is about to make a trade with us for #4 for so and so. Orlando could get worried that there guy could get scooped up and force them to call us and offer to take Calderon $$$ off the books to swap #4 for #5 to guarantee they get there guy.

It would save the knicks 7.5 million in cap space and give them nearly 35 million to spend in FA and still come away with there guy at #5.

This..

Everyone is all like "stay at 4, stay at 4" but can manuever to move down 1-3 spots and still get his guy while shedding Calderon it is a win win.
Shedding Calderon is a complete game changer in FA

why in the world would Wade leave Miami and his 16 mil per to come here for less?

Mind you, it's a prediction and not a recommendation. But that's the scenario I see unfolding from a WCS draft.

depends on who that guy is

Mudiay doesn't drop to 6 unless we are at 6

I think Winslow will drop however and Mario will rise

ok, I don't see NY giving Wade many years on a deal but let me ask you then why would we want to give Wade a 4 year high salary deal?

Hes breaking down at an alarming rate as is

We are all guessing what every board looks like..
For example - Don Nelson said he had Curry as #2 on his board in 2008. Would you expect that?

For all we know Phils board can look like this:
Towns
Russel
WCS
Winslow
Okafor
Priz
Mudiay
Mario

and if it did, it would make sense in theory to trade down 1-2 spots and grab one of WCS or Winslow

Then his strategy worked. He limited exposure to his weaknesses, inflated his value and hoodwinked the Jazz

Wade will want 3 years at 15mil a year.
Is he worth it? Prob not.
Will he bring legitimacy and ability to play lead guard in this offense for 3 years on his contract? Most probably.
Big Gamble
