That's like Greg Oden telling people penis size doesn't matter. Easy for him, he got a footlong hanging down there.

He doesn't explicitly state it in that tweet but seems like he's talking about the importance of rings when judging an individual player, hence the team sport line at the end.

It'd be kinda hard to believe that he believed that winning rings in general was meaningless.

It's also apples to oranges... Rings don't matter in his case because he was simply a role player on several championship teams... Rings only really matter when you're in the conversation for the best players in the league. That's when they basically become the deciding factor in the debate. Otherwise Horry's right, rings don't matter to him and other role players.

Also... Did he happen to mention the bonuses he made for winning those rings? Maybe it was chump change?

Ring does matter for superstars legacy.

What now ? Pyramid doesn't matter for Pharaoh's legacy ? Album records sale doesn't matter for rockstar ?

Melo will always be Melo because he never win the championship despite his prowess in scoring and consistently play at highest level for years. Durant will get flack too at some point if he doesn't win championship in near future.

Speaking on him being a role player, I always thought Horry was the original Odom as far as not working hard enough or achieving his talent level. A guy like fish squeezed every single drop out whereas he didn't care to show up all the time or work his way into shape.

And them not mattering in retrospect doesn't jive for me, when he's telling Divac to read a paper or something and throwing up 7 fingers at a spurs parade. They matter, just differently for players of different tiers.

Titles are what separate Duncan from Malone ... They separate Kobe from McGrady and AI. Hell even amongst role guy circles they separate the likes of Fisher, Kenny Smith, Horry, Fox, Kerr, Kukoc, Horace Grant, Cooper, and Scott from your average Joe like JJ Reddick
