John Wall didn't look ready for the NBA till last year? I agree with the larger point, but bruh

Ready to play at a high level, no. He could stay on the court, yeah. He was, to me, not a good player until last season. Not really helping his team. Basically just an athlete running end to end and making some highlight plays. Not a truly good player, let alone a smart PG.

But, I'm still not a big fan so I am in the minority opinion on him.

Plus that has got to be really tough to handle the transition to China. The ankle injury didn’t help either and he may not have fully recovered.

I am on board with Mudiay

Id agree that Wall didn't look like he deserved his contract at all until this season, a little last year

I give him a lot of credit for his good defense though
between his D and his speed getting to the rim he was always very dangerous but now he's making plays and hitting shots so he's a beast

Winslow is a good player and a cool guy, but you'd be crazy to pick him at 4 over Mudiay. To be sure, Mudiay on a good college team would have aboslutely KILLED it, and had numbers comparable to, if not better than D'angelo Russel. We're fortunate he has question marks surrounding him, or else we'd have NO SHOT at all drafting Mudiay at 4. He'd be long gone.

He may still be gone when it is all said and done. At least we're in a great position where we are getting one of the top players in the draft no matter what.

He's my choice, assuming the other 3 are gone. Any of the younger candidates (Hezonja, Porzingas, Winslow, Mudiay) probably signals no Wade type moves also. Particularly Mudiay, since they aren't really pairable.

Even more reason to pick Mudiay.

I think Mudiay's stats if he played in college would have at least been pretty comparable to Derrick Rose:

15ppg, 4.7assists, 4.5rpg, 47.7%fg, 33%fg

Mudiay is not explosive, but he is bigger. Everyone raves about his IQ, attitude and work ethic too. Thats what you want to hear.

Phil and Derek are looking for someone with a heart of a champion, a love for competition they've said--may not be the most talented player available. Does Mudiay have that? I don't know, he's still a mystery to me. I think WCS and Winslow have it for sure and that's why we're high on them.

The irrational Wall hate on this board has always been absurd. I remember it was like an all-out war when he signed his extension. dude's a beast and at least a top 5 pg in the league.

If they aren't looking for the most talented player at 4 then we will be a laughing stock under their regime.

from what Ive read and what he's said Mudiay is a very fierce competitor

he's highly aggressive and competitive

Winslow is a special guy though
Im not sure his skills or body work in the NBA so well but his heart and attitude and effort are truly special on the next next level

I know u guys hate him but I'm starting to like WCS. I think he'll be good in the pro level and would fit well if we get the free agents we want. Big if though.

Excuse me if this has already been said, but the pick of Winslow just makes no sense to me. Melo is plugged in at small forward for the long haul and with Winslow playing the same position, I just don't get this. There is a clear need for point guard so I don't understand why it wouldn't be Mudiay. Don't get me wrong, I'm not his biggest fan by any stretch, but if you're going to draft a player that plays the same position as Melo, then I don't get it.

It's nearly impossible to extrapolate. Different roles, different goals, different style of play (active, aggressive defense/sloppy as hell vs. fluid play but with less defensive intensity).

I do think he would have more assists than that, though. One thing that I like about him from watching the CBA games is that the offense looks very organized around him. He makes good plays, which is rare at his age.

That said, it's probably a benefit of playing with older pro players vs. amateurs. The other guys know where to be.

Michael Beasley was more talented than Derrick Rose... I know Mudiay does not have those same issues but it's smart to be completely confident about a player's character.
