I think theres a lot to like about Kaminski. the guy can shoot it from anywhere on the court, he has a solid face up game and hes pretty good in the post. he has a strong work ethic. he turned himself from a guy who didnt see the court as a freshman into the national player of the year. you dont do that without putting in a lot of work, and understanding how to get better. I dont buy the "no upside" argument, hes improved his game every year. I dont see why its just assumed that hes going to plateau now, at least on the offensive end.

im not much of an advanced stats guy, but the advanced stats love him, fwiw. and hes supposedly a good locker room guy. plus hes got one of those never happy, d-bag dads that usually give a guy that extra "something to prove" edge.

obviously defense is the big question mark, but hes actually a pretty good weak side defender and a solid post defender. he locked Okafor down, and he is supposedly the most polished post scorer to come out of college in a while. the main concern is can he chase guys around the perimeter? I think he'll be alright, I believe he has the court awareness and bbiq to be serviceable. plus his ability to take guys off the dribble on offense tells me that hes not a slug out there, he has a little bit of quickness to him.

all in all, given the other prospects and their question marks and limitations, I think we could do a lot worse than Kaminski.

Honestly i predicted we'd go turner or versatile big man @8 over the SF need. Just based on how SVG values big men. However, i am dying for a young SF to add to our core and rather address PF in FA

Towns and Drummond would have destroyed the NBA for decades

Why couldnt we have got the #1 pick?

Considering who is likely to be available my pick is still Johnson.

Will start research on Portis & Kamo shortly but so far I'd take Johnson over Mario, Zingus & Turner.

Johnson is interesting, as it's only recently that his stock fell, mostly due to big tournaments from winslow and such. He was in the discussion as the 4th pick, because he excels on both ends of the court.

I will have zero problem with Johnson. The guy is an animal on the court, and he's built like a tank, and plays like one as well.

I honestly think, for our needs, we are going to have alot of options in this draft.

There are very few players I would be pissed if we drafted, even frank would fit nicely next to drummond, although I would rather have any of the sf's and WCS. Stein is the most intriguing to me. We would have a hell of a defensive shot blocking duo, and if, IF he can truly hit jumpers, and threes in game time, a dominant front-court for years.

van gundy wants someone who is capable of spacing the court, improving our defensive versatility, and creating their own offense when needed.

i really think the pick is going to be johnson or portis.

Here's a different take on things:

In 2 years time which player is gonna be the guy teams around the league would love to have?

WCS could be that dude! Quality defensive bigs are hard to find...and if he can shoot it from 15-18 feet...Wow!

And Portis was working out with the Pistons, so maybe SVG wants to move down and get him??

I think we are doing our due diligence with Portis, he will IMO be better than both Kaminsky and Porzingis- neither of whom should be in consideration at 8 IMO.

I must say, I would not be upset with bobby portis at all. I'd still rather have winslow or Johnson but I'd take portis over oubre, hejonza, porzingis or cauley-stein without hesitation.

SVG has openly stated that they're exploring every avenue. The only thing he said they haven't talked about is trading up in the draft- which makes sense considering their lack of assets.

So, I'm sure they've at least discussed trading back with multiple teams.

Reminder that the ideal draft for us is Winslow at 8 and Richuan Holmes at 38, and that it is possible.

After the first three picks go Towns, Okafor, and Russell, the Knick have expressed interest in WCS, and it's entirely feasible that they draft him. He'd be their Tyson Chandler replacement, but actually has better defensive upside due to his mobility. It's not as crazy as you think.

Orlando, needing rim-protection and shooting, and having a hole at PF (viewing Gordon as a SF), they draft Porzingis, who fits their needs perfectly and has been getting plenty of hype recently.

The Kings go for Turner, because they want to play Cousins at PF, they need shooting and defense. Turner is an excellent shot-blocker and will make life easier on their star player.

Nuggets want to move on from Lawson and draft Mudiay, either here or by trading up once he slips past New York.

We land Winslow.

i now think its really possible we can land winslow and get another steal in the draft which would b amazing since we lost our pick last year.
