Flip has always stated he looks "for the home run"...It's why he picked Shabbaz and LaVine. Based on that...why does he seem to favor Okafor over Towns? Especially since Towns plays better D, shoots better from the FT line, can run and spread the floor better, has higher upside....Is Flip just creating drama or is he really torn between the two? Seems like everyone else on the planet has Towns as the consensus #1.

First of all, from July-February, Okafor was the consensus No. 1 guy. So it's not like he can't play. I think Flip see's Okafor as a major post up presence on offense -- a major need of the Wolves. But you're right. Towns has more strengths than Okafor, fewer weaknesses (if any) and I think he's a better fit with Gourgi Dieng and Pekovic. No question Towns can play some four in the NBA and be a nightmare match-up. Let's see what happens when they come in to visit with the team. I don't think the Wolves will get to see them workout together, and both guys are impressive off the court. But we're still three weeks away. Lots of homework going on. I think the Wolves will eventually decide to take him 1, or perhaps swap with the Lakers and try to pick up another asset.

Crazy, crazy good. Great NBA body. Huge wingspan. Incredible shooting touch from NBA three and mid range. Moves well without the ball. And I really enjoyed spending the afternoon with him. Great personality. Highly intelligent. Humble. He's a hard worker. He's going to be a beast in the NBA. I'll see Okafor and Porzinigs workout in a few weeks, but based on everything I've seen, I think he's the best prospect in the draft. But that doesn't mean I don't think guys like Okafor, D'Angelo Russell, Porzingis or Emmanual Mudiay aren't worthy.

Yeah, if Towns works out for us there's no way flip won't see what everyone else is seeing. He's got a heavy bias towards okafor for all the wrong reasons, up until the other day he didn't even know Towns had range on his shot! There's no way he'll be able to keep his head in the sand when it comes to Towns after getting him in the gym though.

I am not optimistic. Flip is stubborn, and often ignores reality.
Remember the Lavine at PG situation. He made his mind before the draft that Lavine is a PG and he continued playing him at PG even when it was obvious for everybody else that his natural position and where he excels is at SG.

Yea I def think that once Flip has the kid in plain sight and gets a look at what he brings, if Towns is that good, Flip wont hesitate. Towns just sounds like he has a lot of the tools you would want out of a modern 5. If this was 1990, I'd might go with Okafor.

I think Flip will pick Towns. Both guys are his types of players. Matches his two way player talk. Towns brings the floor stretching offense that Flip has always loved. I don't buy that Flip is too stubborn to change his mind.

Um... just saw Towns DraftExpress workout video. Didn't think there a was clear runaway #1 pick in this draft until now. If Flip drafts Okafor then I will be at a loss for words, real talk.

I prefer and voted for Towns, but part of me wants Flip to pick Okafor just to read the reactions. I don't know if they'll reach the younggunsmn Mayo for Love meltdown, but should make for some good schadenfreuding.

One thing to remember with Flip is that Towns had a really bad game in the one Kentucky game he went to in person. He was in foul trouble all game. Now a decision shouldn't be made off of one game but that probably didn't do Towns any favors with Flip.

I too think Flip will see the light when KAT comes to workout. He really embodies everything Flip has said he's looking for. Of course Okafor might really, really impress in his workout/interview, too.

Yeah right before the camera goes down (around 16sec) is where I hear a muffled "We got Karl Towns" I could be wrong but I just dont know what else he would be saying that sounds that similar.
