Mase and Ireland mentioned this on air about an hour ago and continue to discuss what other writers are reporting and speculating.

Its all conjecture and speculation and "What if"

As i said i dont think any GM's have solidified any plan because things are gonna be so dynamic and fluid going right into the draft. Sure they have to run thru every hypothetical but i certainly dont think Mitch and Co have set any plan regarding draft in stone because it would be silly to do so at this date.

Man, it is going to be nice to be picking 2nd in the damn draft.

I usually sleep through the first half hour or so.

To my defense i will say i was on another boring long conference call and wrote the post half listening to an autodesk presentation and reading rumor boards and trying to compose thoughts and write a post.

Good catch and if you were a vet here you would have corrected me as opposed to trying to bait me into one of those low class, uneducated digital sparring matches. hahaha lol geeze

I have no interest in trolling...especially another Laker fan. But c'mon, if something crazy is written, it has to be quoted. Comes with the territory. We've all done it. Glad you're taking it in stride.

The more the draft comes, the more i like Okafor. The more i see KAT, the more i see DeAndre in him. Call me crazy. I'll take Okafor w/ his semi-polished offense any day of week. I don't want to see Okafor dominating w/ 25 and 10 on the other team maybe 5 yrs from now.

KAT is like DeAndre if DeAndre could shoot from anywhere on the court, and could handle and dribble and pass the ball whenever he wanted.

Lakers' interest in Mudiay appears to be legit and he could indeed be second on your board next to Towns. Kupchak probably knows that Scott is dependent on having dynamic PG's like Kidd (Nets) and CP3 (Hornets) to be successful. As good as Clarkson is, I don't think he fits this mold. I can see you guys drafting Mudiay at #2 while getting an athletic and defensive C in FA like DeAndre Jordan or someone like Tyson Chandler who would love being in California. Your management has long wanted to put up a running team and this post-Kobe lineup could be promising:

G - Mudiay
G- Clarkson
C - DeAndre
F - Randle
F - Swaggy P

As for us, I can see us making a trade with the Knicks wherein we swap picks in exchange for whatever assets they can muster as well as them taking on salary we want to unload. If everything goes right for us, this is what could happen in the draft:

1. Knicks - Towns (minus assets in moving up)
2. Lakers - Mudiay
3. Sixers - Russell
4. TWolves - Okafor (plus assets in moving down)

We get the guy we want at #1 with the #4 pick but we get additional assets for our troubles. All 4 teams are happy and Mudiay will fullfill his dream in becoming a Laker. If you guys take Okafor, we would still be content with Mudiay or the European KG.

if the lakers draft jahlil okafor, would it be reasonable for them to bring back the triangle offense? Would brian shaw make a good coach for okafor? I think okafor would absolutely flourish in the triangle.

Any team hiring Brian Shaw should be hiring him to be a really good assistant

first of all, that pic is hilarious. had me rollin. secondly, we have the 2nd pick. So whether we get KAT or okafor, is totally up to Minnesota. Its obviously going to go, they take 1. We will take the other.

man, to all the people who keep saying 'change the thread title!?/1 :@ i want townzzz' – can’t believe you actually changed it! - read the first **** line of the op. i want towns, you want towns. i'm sure mitch wants towns. i would bet my house on the fact that we take towns if he's there. howeverrrrrr, THIS THREAD is predicated on the idea that IF (when, imo; if flip takes oke, i'll jump off my roof) towns is gone, we have a legitimate decision to make: between a (potentially) flawed big and (potentially) game-changing (IMO) guard. that is still a legitimate question, imo. in fact, maybe, 3 people over the course of the thread have made a compelling argument one way or the other, which is why i stopped posting, ha. i do not know enough about basketball to answer any of the questions i asked in the op - and it seems none (okay, few) of the guys that i usually like here do either - which is fine. we have, however, had some interesting ideas from a couple of posters from other boards who have had some good input.

my own thoughts:
- i'm gradually coming around on the idea that oke could improve his d
- i'm almost convinced that running our offence through him in the low post for the next 8 years is not the best thing for this team
- randle could end up being a lot more athletic than I thought he would be
- there is, imo, no way minny trades down to 2. that is a ridiculous suggestion. nothing we would give up they would want, nor would anything we would give up mitigate the damage to flip’s rep in the eyes of the fanbase for taking oke over towns (and, eys, i know, towns could suck, and oke could be Duncan. i am aware of this.)
- if anyone wants to add mudiay to the poll/title, that would be fine

some things that have pissed me off:
- people saying 'guards like russell come around every year' or 'you can get a guard like that in free agency'.
a) i think it is highly unlikely that we have a draft pick in the top five any time in the next five years - unless we somehow luck out and land a top 3 pick next year;
b) name three guards (or one? i legit cannot think of any, but i am also an idiot so...) 'like that' that have become available in free agency in the last 5 years (i think it's fair to say that he's projected to be a tier 1 guard - not saying that will happen, obviously, but it seem even his detractors think he will be good, just not great). people do understand that once you come into the league, if you're good, and you go in the first round, you're pretty much guaranteed to be playing with the same team that drafted you for at least 8 years, right? ****, we're still waiting for russ to come off his first deal and he's my age! IF Russell ends up being a tier-one guard, we will not be getting a look at another one unless he is over 26 and on a max deal. and, personally, i think the likelihood of that happening is pretty low.

- people saying they 'know' that X will be Y. nobody 'knows' anything stop with that. imagine working w some of you people. gotttttdamnnnn.

andddddddddddd my blackout just ended!!!! how good. i will post more of things that have been pissing me off in this thread as i think of them, as i’m sure you’re all waiting w bated breath for more of my incredible insights
