No. The "ice cream man" known for his underhanded scoops around the basket is old. He's savvy but he is not athletic and would not help us on the boards or on defense. Maybe 4-5 yrs ago.

I blame that on Teague. it might be unfair for me to blame Teague because maybe he had a bad ankle and didn't let anyone know how really bad it was, but Teague was doing nothing from single coverage.

Teague was dominating George Hill last year in the playoffs and he wasn't doing that against the Cavs. Either Teague was playing hurt and didn't tell anyone or Teague really just failed his team. either way the Spurs win when Tony Parker is slashing and getting to the basket, same goes for the Hawks, our PG needs to be getting to the basket and converting.

Dude, how can you put the blame on Teague when he was clearly our best player in that series? He got to the lane repeatedly, was bodied up and did not get many calls. If Milsapp had played better, or if shooters made more open 3's Teague could have dominated. You do realize that the series high in assists in a single game was 7 by Jeff? Poor shooting will do that for you. 25% from 3 pt land will shut down all driving lanes for a smallish PG.

You are wrong about that. if you watch the game, you would have saw that the cavs were heavily respecting Korver and the other 3pt shooters, even Millsap. Teague was getting single coverage, but his floaters and double clutches in the lane were not falling. Those floaters were falling for Teague against Roy Hibert last year, but not this year against the cavs. If you knew Spurs basketball, you would know how important the PG position is for the system.

And by the way, Teague was no way the best player for the Hawks. Horford was by far the best player for the Hawks.

The dude averaged 6.5 rebounds off the bench this season. None of our bigs of the bench can say that. Also, his mid range jumper is what could carry us when the offense gets stagnant. It's an upgrade.

I really really wish we had Marreese Speights. Played excellent last night for the Warriors. Set great screens for curry, crashing the glass, contesting shots, and hit almost all his mid range jumpers.

I think we should look to make small, low-key but shrewd moves since Bud n' Danny aren't keen on major change. In all likelihood Paul and Demarre will return barring an insane offer from some really desperate teams. Our main need is size/rebounding but we also need more depth and versatility across the board. We shot the ball really well in the season yet struggled mightily in the playoffs. Korver is really our only consistent threat. Carroll is pretty good. No one else strikes any fear in our opponents because they aren't consistent from deep. If the three is a vital part of our offense then we need better shot makers. Thabo, when healthy, Bazemore, Paul, Horford, Pero, Teague, Mack, Dennis and Scott can all make threes but not a steady diet of them. A player that could help in this area is Ryan Kelly of the Lakers. He is very available in trade due to the Lakers fluctuating roster and philosophy. His size, 6"11 and 230 lbs is adequate for a stretch four. He is more mobile than both Pero and Muscala and a much better natural shooter than Paul or Mike Scott. In our ball movement offense he would be someone who could make teams pay from deep and on over zealous close outs. As a bench option he has some value which is mitigated by his less than stellar defense. However, if we acquire a rim protecting center(Asik) or a physical rebounding forward (T-Robinson) as previously stated, there is a chance for incremental improvement. We could probably get him for Shelvin Mack or John Jenkins or maybe a future 2nd rd pick.

...what?

He had 28 in game one, 30 in game three and was one pace for 25+ in game 4 if not for the blowout. He had a bad night in game 2 but to say the guy that led us in scoring, actually had a positive +/- in two of the games let his team down is ridiculous.

And Teague was by far our best player in that series and it wasn't even close.

Why do I feel like Jeff Teague is the new Josh Smith around here? Blame him for failures, ignore his importance to the successes...

I dont blame Teague, I think he played well. But, this is his ceiling. He cant carry a team, and thats ok, few people can. I saw a lot of tentative Jeff despite the points he scored.

I feel like I remember his faults more than his strengths. Like the 2 possessions at the end of games where we doesnt get a shot off or doesnt recognize the switch and literally has deer in headlights syndrome.

Looks like we're in it for Mark Gasol. Best case scenario for us.

There are many things to evaluate: personal goals, the ring… The city isn’t so important like it was in Pau’s case. My brother had other needs. People with sons knows how this works. I don’t have time to go to the opera, or to the theater. New York is nice but it was very cold during the All Star Game. San Antonio, L.A, Atlanta… there’s good things everywhere.

He would improve our team so much, but I won't get my hopes up.....I'd be surprised if he left Memphis.

I would be surprised if he stayed in Memphis. From all the interviews, its clear that Marc's number one goal is to win a championship before his career ends and Memphis is officially off the list of legit contenders with the decline in Randolph and the inability to improve the SF spot from Gay to Prince and now Green.

This. I got my hopes up with Dwight a few years ago and that didn't work out, and I really don't think he leaves Memphis. If he came here that would make us legit title contenders, but I won't count on him leaving.

A frontcourt of Gasol and Horford? That's the best bigman duo in the league.

speculations of a big time free agent coming has been ridiculous for the past couple of years. Last year it was Melo, and the year b4 that is was cp3 and d12.

My point is that no matter who the PG was if your team shoots 25% from 3 for the series and depends on a lot of threes because that's what makes up for not having a low post threat...you are going to lose. Who was the worst player for the hawks? It wasn't Jeff Teague. Some of his usual floaters were not falling with normal regularity but he at least was being aggressive. Milsapp and Horford did not fully exploit their advantages against Cleveland and frankly looked overwhelmed at times. Milsapp was the biggest disappointment for Hawks. Horford, the 3 time all-star, only avg 11 pts and 4 reb while Teague avg 21 pts, 3 reb and 4.5 asst. Teague had 4 blks in the series while Horford only had 2. Plus Horford probably cost us a win in game 3 by stupidly getting ejected. You say that Teague was getting single coverage but weren't they all?
