Is T squared this generations Dennis Rodman?

Dennis averaged 7 PPG and 13 RPG. T squared is averaging 8.5 and 8 comparitively.

I was not a Tristen fan but he has earned my respect and praise with his work. My question is what do you pay him per year as a role player like Dennis?

You can't pay a likely off the bench player max money especially when you need money to fund three other max contracts. Plus I WANT JR BACK FOR SURE!!!!

Thoughts on what TT's contract looks like or do you just make the qualifying offer to him and Shum next year for now? And wait for the new CBAin 2016- 2017?

Kinda like Rodman but a very very poor mans Rodman. No knock on TT but Rodmans defense and rebounding was something else.

And yeah i agree match the highest offer.

I'm still amused when Toronto fans were always saying that Valanciunas was the guy we should have taken. Who knows eventually they may be right, but I've always said that Tristan has done far more in the NBA than Val has at this point.

If he continues to listen and learn, defend at a high level and do what he does on the glass.. he could very well be something special.

Question remains though whether he will outplay his contract situation. It's all well and good to play for the pay rise, but then he has to earn it proper once it's signed.

The skill set and body are there. The question is, is defense sexy enough for him. People forget that Rodman was an 8-8 guy early in his career and above average defensively. The Pistons and Spurs of the early 90s put an emphasis on defense.

If Thompson buckles down and says "I can get mine on D" he becomes an awesome fit. We've seen glimpses this post-season and this year. If James and Irving encourage him in that direction the way Laimbeer, Thomas, And Dumars did to Rodman, it could work.

He's got the tools, but keeping shots out of the basket isn't as sexy as putting them in, it takes commitment and confidence in the role.

I think the closest player to Rodman in NBA is Draymond. Dennis Rodman was famous for being the ultimate role player who did everything he needed for the team to succeed. The NBA in the 2010s values 3 point shooting, so if 2010 Rodman should be someone who can shoot the 3 as well.

It's Draymond. He's outspoken and controversial as well, but not that crazy. I think even Steve Kerr said something about Draymond reminding him of Rodman.

Not trying to hate here but, what has Tristan done that JV has not? Raps fan and obviously like TT still (Canadian)

I understand TT in currently in the NBA Finals but lets be honest, he really is nothing special if Lebron wasn't on the team. TT is also a year older and shorter. (although more athletic)

I know they do not play the same position or the same style of game, but wouldn't the current Cavaliers benefit from playing JV at the 5 and trading those 1st round picks for a different player rather than Mozgov? JV in the Cavs system would likely be a notch below TM defensively but an improvement offensively. This also would eliminate any Hack-A-Shaq technique being used against you guys. JV also is good enough offensively that I'm guessing LBJ wouldn't of wanted Love as much and Wiggins may of been in Cleveland still.. I can't help but imagine Irving/Wiggins/Lebron/PF/JV with Shump/Smith/Delly/Varejao and whoever else those two firsts could've gotten isnt' better both now and in the future for Cleveland.

Toronto also sucks at developing youth.. JV probably could've put up Vucevic like numbers and been twice the player he is now during your guys dark days without LBJ.
