New poster here
New poster...I'm older (67) so I've seen a lot of the players from the 60s and 70s, so I hope I can contribute some insights. Used to be a Celtics fan in the Larry Bird days, but became a casual Pacer fan in the 90s, serious fan when Reggie came to the Pacers. My favorite players of all time are Larry Bird, Reggie Miller, Wilt Chamberlain (I see he has a lot of detractors on RealGM, and don't understand why) and most of all, John Havlicek. I was in HS in the early 60s and remember very well those great Ohio State teams with Hondo, Jerry Lucas, Mel Noel, Larry Siegfried and Bob Knight playing Cincinnati with Tom Thacker and Tony Yates.for the national title.
Anyway, hope to have some interesting discussions here.

Re: New poster here
Welcome aboard! Don't worry about the age. We let Wizop post here and he's like 120 years old!
Certainly seems like you're an Ohio guy? Whereabouts? I spent 7 years in Cleveland and just moved down to Cincy for at least the next 3. Born here in Ohio, or still around?

Welcome! At least I'm not the oldest guy here anymore, I'm 52. I remember the ABA days and games at the Fairgrounds Coliseum. Do you recall the "Hangem' High" game against the Spurs, I don't remember the year but I was there as a kid about of about 10.

You never were the oldest guy by 20 years if I am in fact the oldest.
Yes I remember the Hang 'em High series. It was at MSA.
I also remember being at the first ABA All Star game at Hinkle. Larry Brown was the MVP and I caught a red, white, and blue ball thrown into the stands. Wish I'd kept it instead of letting the kids play ball with it.
I even remember going to an Indianapolis Olympians game at Hinkle when I was around six. Hinkle was probably still called Butler Fieldhouse back then.

I was at 1-2 of those hang'em high games with the effigy of George Gervin hanging from the rafters of MSA. Slick Leonard was coach of the Pacers I remember a game where he attacked the Ref, grabbed the guy by the neck. Only in the ABA!!

If you haven't read it there is a good book on the ABA.

Welcome to the forum, countryboy667. Judging from the rest of the posts in this thread, you're going to fit right in
