Yes, that would be a great idea. Actually it would be nice to hear that from everyone since I don't really know that about anyone.

For me, I grew up in Phx, just really got into the Suns about the time KJ arrived, but kind of vaguely remember Nance winning the dunk contest and some of the earlier players before that, but hadn't watched much of them because I was a kid.

But those KJ years were so exciting...the place was rocking...I remember songs on the radio about the Suns about the time Rambis was there...someone needs to find that and post it.

Then when the got Barkley it was better, but it took a little bit away from KJ, which I kind of hated, but I've talked about that. Those three years of eliminations really sucked.

I moved away from Phx a while back and have since lived in Minneapolis, Denver, San Diego, San Antonio (was at the suspension game), and now Austin.

Welcome aboard to the new lurkers and many more to come. Will be great to have new posters on this site and listen to their knowledge. As for myself, I moved to Phoenix from Ukraine in 93 and at first my passion was soccer aka futbal but around 2000 I transitioned into NBA along with other major AZ sports( cards, dbacks, coyotes). My favorite first moments was seeing Kidd, Nash and KJ play together even though we got rocked by the lakers in the playoffs seeing 3 great pgs was a blessing. Another favorite moment occurred in 04-05 by signing Nash and never expected such an amazing year we had with the squad. Also, Tim Thomas clutch 3 in playoffs, beating kobe two years in a row felt sweet and can't forget raja's clothlining kobe that was a thing of beauty ;). Overrall, im a die hard fan and will always root for these guys and maybe before I die I cAn witness just one championship from this team.

I just want Ryan McD to blow the team up in the offseason.

I am more annoyed by Ann Drysdale.... no way you can tell me that woman is sober during telecasts. Love it when Eddie is on, and hate that chick. She reminds me of someones stumbling drunk uncle calling the game. Both her and Albert always get fouls or ball outs or other calls wrong during the game.

I agree. We need Leander back in the commentating booth. He & Eddie Johnson are such an entertaining duo to listen to.

I moved to AZ in 77', but in 78' I shot against Westphal at a Kerr's sports store opening, and have been a Suns fan ever since. I moved from NY as a kid, so most of the teams I followed stemmed from my dad or older brother, but my dad never followed the Knicks, so there wasn't a conflict.

I really miss Cotton, and I loved when Al McCoy was on the TV commentating. Overall, I like Eddie, he doesn't sugar coat anything.

I wondered the back story about NY. I'm probably about the same age as you, because when I became an NFL fan the Cards were not in Phx yet, so I watched Fouts as a kid and loved the high powered offense.....and naturally between them and the Suns, I love watching great offense. Defense is of course nice to have too.

Big change when you came from Ukraine? What is your favorite Cards moment? Fitz winning super bowl catch? Until there was another winning super bowl catch by the other team? I had Coyotes season tickets a while back. Those were fun.

That run in the playoffs by the cardinals 4 years ago was my favorite due to the faCT that I've yet to see us be that good. I wish coyotes can make a stanley cup would be epic.

Lurkers, time to sign up!

Post#32 » by SunsAreHot » Wed Jun 10, 2015 1:43 am

I was born in Romania. Moved to Phoenix, AZ in 2000 and still here today. Not as much a veteran Suns fan as some of you on here, but I did start rooting for them the year before Steve Nash was signed. I still have dreams about what could've been with Nash, Joe, Q-Rich, Matrix, and Stat if they stayed together. And then if Ron Artest didn't get that rebound and put back. And then if Tim Duncan didn't make that three. Despite the bad breaks, I think we have had the most entertaining basketball product on the floor the last 15 years. Those Memphis Grizzlies fans don't even know.

Been a fan since about 98-99 time frame, not entirely sure. I think I was in the 3rd or 4th grade. Jason Kidd was my favorite player, the only jersey I ever actually wanted growing up. Though I did accumulate a Wesley Persons jersey somehow, and later in my teens got two Walmart brand Nash/Amare jerseys.
Didn't really like the Kidd/Marbury trade but I rooted for Marbury, and enjoyed that series where Marbury/Amare hit those threes to beat the Spurs in one of those games. When Marbury was traded, I didn't understand why at the time, because we got crap value for him. I really enjoyed watching LB during his rookie year after we tanked, thought he could eventually turn into a really good player.
Really enjoyed the Nash/Amare years.
Now I'm just hoping someone can be the savior for this team and turn this franchise around.

Aight, I'll give it a go.

I'm from Greece. currently an IT student at University of Macedonia (that's in Greece btw :P )

My first memory of the NBA is a documentary I watched when I was a kid, about the '93 finald and the MJ vs Barkley battle. Some years later I started watching NBA games and fell in love with the SUNS run'n'gun team, so naturally I started pulling for them, never stopped since.

My favorite years were the Nash-Bell-whatever-Marion-Stoudemire years, that team was just a highlight reel.

Visited US for the first time this April, Orlando, Miami, Keys, cruise to Bahamas, absolutely loved it. It's my dream to eventually make it to the US and make a living there. :)

I was a huge Chargers fan back in the day when they had Fouts, Winslow, Benershka(sp), Muncie, Jefferson, and the rest. I would fake a cold to watch them on Sunday. It was the only way to get out of church. I had a Fouts jersey when I was little. So are you 45?

Return of the Lurks!

With the current state of the Suns, I can see why there is little interest. Casual fans don't care about the process behind winning, they just want to see wins. I've been coming on here less and less. Not just because the team is borderline 8 seed, I've also been extremely busy this year.

With that said, I will post some opinions about the upcoming draft (Looney plz) and be more active on this board.

P.S. How bout that premier league?!

Another newbie here. I've actually been lurking since 2005 when I moved to Dallas (back in AZ now). Needed a way to follow the Suns despite being in Mavs country. My fandom goes back to the mid-80's and I have absolutely loved the teams under Cotton, the Barkley era, and of course the Nash/Amare/Matrix years. So close and so heart breaking. My wife wouldn't let me name my first son Trey Rex (T-Rex), so I got dibbs on another child's name and named him Kyle Nash (and I call him KJ).

I'll try to contribute a bit every now and then.
