Re: Official Team USA Thread
Not sure what was better on that last goal. The dummy or the goal and from Bobby Wood of all people.
Also, a couple of weird decisions for the Gold Cup roster. Beasley and Alan Gordon?!

Congratz guys.
Hopefully it helps you gain more confidence and grow the game in the states.

Thats what I'm hoping. I know you guys weren't a full strength, but a win is a big morale booster for us.

It wasn't even about the roster.
It was much more about the time the game was played(our guys had already been on holidays for a week) and that it was a friendly, which we don't care for(result wise) that much.
The next game for us will ba a qualifier at the mighty Gibraltar, who're playing their first qualification for a major tournament.
Also, the whole game was a total "summertime game" as we call it, with the guys trying not to run too much and to not pick up an injury.
Still, there were some solid movments from you guys and the young kid from Stanford also had a move or two to show for.

Bradley was outstanding, again. Great goal by Wood. Morris looks to be the real deal, someone decent will probably make an offer soon I would think.

Enough with the excuses. That game proves the U.S. is better than Germany at football. We beat you on your own home field. Jurgen was just tanking games against Germanic teams in the World Cup because we all know where his heart lies. Now that this wasn't an official competition against them he could actually try. Send us OUR trophy in the mail immediately. It's the only honorable thing to do.

Re: Official Team USA Thread
Klinsmann makes 3 changes to roster ahead of Quarterfinals. DaMarcus Beasley, Joe Corona, and Alan Gordon in for Greg Garza, Alfredo Morales, and Jozy Altidore. Altidore is a bit surprising even if he's struggling but yeah, he was pretty bad in the 2 group stage matches he played in.

Re: Official Team USA Thread
I hate when I come off as pessimistic but Team USA is in for a lot of trouble in the future... I don't like like anyone in the current call-ups in terms of soccer instincts and skills... sloppy passes, hesitant decision making, overplay, rushing etc... playing concacaf saves them and hurts them...
lots of good physical skill, yes plenty but no soccer talent to be impressed with after a select few call it quits... winter is coming for US Mens Soccer.

Re: Official Team USA Thread
I don't think the future is bad, the callups just suck. How is Morris not on the roster? Lee Nguyen or Danny Williams for example are both better options than Corona.
There are better options elsewhere and JK didn't use them for this tournament.
Thankfully, in our youth ranks we have some really nice players.

hopefully Zardes takes all of Altidore's minutes up top, Gyasi is much better playing up top and matching next to Dempsey should produce good results

TOMORROW
USA vs Jamaica
July 22, 2015
5 PM CT
Georgia Dome; Atlanta, Georgia
FOX Sports 1, UniMas
2 or more goals should win the game for us
i believe, its Grass layed over turf (if thats not right, someone correct me)
so im not extra concerned about Jamaicas speed
i really really really want Zardes up top with Dempsey
not as a wing, as JK uses him
what i want to see, what we would consensus want and what JK does never matches
for me, id like to see
.......zardes - dempsey
...........diskerud
.....bradley ---- bedoya
..........beckerman
fab - brooks -- omar - yedlin
............guzan
