Lakers Planning To Exercise Option On Robert Sacre

Post#1 » by LApwnd » Wed Jun 10, 2015 5:21 pm

WTF, what does mgmt. see in this guy that the rest of us cant? I mean does being 7ft just guarantee you a roster spot no matter what these days? Yes he's cheap but there's reason for that, I don't even like Black and I'd rather see him play over this bum :banghead:

He makes 900k and content with being the 3rd big, towel waver off the bench. Teams tend to keep those guys just as a practice body and morale booster in the locker room.

could do that with a better talented vet journeyman.

A guy like Theo Ratliff didn't have much left in the tank than what Sacre could do now when he signed for us. Atleast Sacre is 26 and kind of not too old for the rookies to run away from.

He is a good backup big for 1 million. Hard to find those who want to be here and are not looking for that big pay day.

He is pretty good for a third body. Works hard and doesn't complain. Relatively young. I don't mind him.

its not cause he wants to be here, more like no one else will pay him to be on their team.

Clippers pay like 6 guys who never play to warm their bench.

Totally understand guys being irked by this news, but let's remember there were rumors Cleveland made calls about Sacre. I have a feeling Mitch knows better than we do about Sacre's value.

If he's a 15th man, fine. If he's a rotation player, then yeah WTH.

Yeah but isn't vet min on a journeyman (I'll say 7-10 yr pro) almost double what Sacre would make? Why pay That much more for a practice reps towel waver who also has higher probability to get hurt?

League pays part of the vet min.

Sacre and Kelly should both have been let to because they suck. The problem is they aren't the third bigs, they always end up starting the pat two years and main rotation guys. And again they suck seeing as how Sacre can't board or finish in the paint and Kelly is a stretch 4 which can't **** shoot or board. They should have just been let go, Tarik should be the 3rd/4th big and we could just draft a guy or pay Javale. McGee the minimum and give him his player option in year two he was looking for from teams last year as opposed to a team option in every two year deal he was offered

I'm pretty sure we could find a Dleague or a guy who goes undrafted that could make as much as Sacre and still be a much better towel boy and practice squad guy. I mean seriously if Randle/Okafor is balling the crap out of Sacre in practice is that really gona give them the confidence to play against the talents that they'll actually facing on the court?

This story floated out by a "league source" could very easily be to motivate Tarik Black. If this is true, it's coming from the Lakers, and if they did choose to leak it, it's for a reason. Who else does Sacre's agent rep? People would be surprised just how political decisions are, even in sports.

I don't see any reason left to keep him around. He's absolutely useless, and hasn't proven that he can play. He really seems to have maxed out his ability. He's just not NBA material. I know everyone is saying he only makes 900K, and he's our 3rd string center but I would rather draft a high upside project to give the job to.

He's a good guy, but really, we need to start building a winning culture again. We have some guys that just need to go.

If we draft Okafor, We won't need another big man to develop. thats how i see it. I don't think Black or Davis stay with us with the offers they will see around the league. Hill is the only guy since we do have him under contract.

It's the 15th man. Does not take up a lot of $$$ and we have not heard him complain which is good.

I thought Black was already under contract for next year? Same type of contract Jabari got.

If you notice, there is no good things since he came here. Randle broke his foot, Howard left, Nash is done, Kobe 3 times season ending injury etc etc
