I agree. We have watched it fail for 4-5 years now and he is no longer I his prime. He has injury concerns moving forward. Cut your losses and start fresh.

What do you guys think we should do with Carmelo Anthony? Is he worth rebuilding around again?

WCS/ Smith
Melo/Barg

So let me get this straight, we are trading down from 4 to 7 and we take back from Denver a role player we originally gave them for Melo?

Add the future pick. So 2 pics + a player that avg. 16/6. We have no pick in 2016 and Denver's not jumping out of the Lotto anytime soon. The west is too deep. So 2 Lotto picks and Chandler. Worth it. If they picked Winslow they would basically get the same type of player as Chandler.

So you think Denver is giving up an unprotected first to move up 3 spots?

So we live in a world where Melo waives his NTC to go to a team that is a contender in a big market, and that contender gives up enough value for him that makes it worth it for us even though he is expensive and has injury concerns? And they still remain contenders after?

If not than no trade. Trading the pic is no where near a must. the only trades to be made are those where we have the upper hand.

Melo would waive his NTC to team up with Wall in Washington, 40 minutes from where he grew up in Baltimore. We could get a decent package back for him in Beal, Nene's expiring and #19.

It would definitely be something the Wiz would consider, especially if Pierce decides to retire our leave for LA in Free Agency.

this. why not try to create the next GSW/OKC '07? longevity of at least being in the running for contention is nicer than landing a big FA who can only score (albeit, top 3 in the league), and never bring the knicks to the promised land.

GSW / OKC got to where they were from hitting on basically every pick (except OKC - they had a couple of misses...but had two grand slams to make up for it). I don't think we're ever gonna be that lucky  :( But, man, if we could build that type of team in NY...we'd never have to worry about any of them leaving because they wanted more money.

Maybe not. But it would sure be refreshing to try it once instead of the usual waving of the money and waiting to see if anyone bites.

In the West you can have good team and still get a lottery pick. In the East if you're mediocre you can make the playoffs. Knicks arent going to be able to stack lottery picks like GSW or OKC.

i agree. those two teams are close to anomalies. but it IS possible. i don't know if the knicks can get that lucky. but with this draft being so deep, being able to grab a franchise changing big man, and a play maker (or more) would be an awesome start. i know it's wishful thinking, but damn, it'd be nice...

Melo is staying unless he wants out of the Knicks. He loves New York, his family does as well.

U have to nail this draft pick, and find good young players that can develop into all stars in free agency. A team can turn it around real fast in this league, we see it all the time where teams take that next step out of no where, and exceed what everyone thought they could. Melo still has good years left in him, and he has that veteran experience that can be valuable in this league and a lot of people undervalue.

Wilson Chandler is a terrible defender. Justise Winslow is better defender and rebounder than this guy. If the Knicks got Chandler we haven't improved our team, while Denver got better and where we'll be picking is where a borderline playoff team would be picking either tail end of the lottery or in the late teens early 20s.

No thank you. Wilson Chandler is not worth the Calderon dump and the opportunity for a crappy 1st round pick next year. That's Scott Layden move.

Honestly I'd be excited for Greg Monroe. Dude is only 25 and has been with the **** Pistons his whole career. I'm sure he has a lot to prove, seems humble, and I'm sure would be molded into a stronger player under Phil .

Return to New York Knicks
