It looks like nepotism on the surface, but Ryan West really seems to know his stuff, and was being groomed as the successor to Mitch Kupchak of the Lakers. Land an up-and-coming while screwing the Lakers? Sign me up! An article about him hhere.

Vlade has lots of connections within both the Lakers and the Spurs, so we should be able to get someone good, or at least someone not as slimy as Pete.

Love the article on Ryan West. Gives alot of insight on his background and how he can help us. If he is ready to build something of his own then come on over. I think it lines up perfect for him to build his own legacy and stay in California. Sign him Vlade!

West certainly has name recognition from his father. I'd prefer Petrie until the dust clears and a grooming of a replacement to come personally.

At least not a horse with no name.

I dont think we should bring Petrie back. The last few drafts it seemed he was out of touch with the league.

2012 - Thomas Robinson over Lillard, Barnes and Drummond
2011 - Jimmer and Salmons over Thompson, Leonard, Burks, Vucievic, Motiejūnas, Shumpert, Singleton, Faried and Mirotić

Ryan West has been putting in the work. First helping with the MEM rebuild and then being scout in LA and being groomed for the GM chair. We need new blood and to attract a new young exec we need to move fast and offer a real position in my opinion.

Was some complications there with Mallofery most likely.

But I get what you are saying.

This will be one of the first decisions by Vlade, he needs to make a good one.

I question why West would want to come here though, unless he and Vlade truly have an understanding.

His Dad went to GS and took his brother there as a scout to give him experience. In LA Jerry West son is being groomed just like he is I believe. Sacramento would be a place where he can build his own legacy. New owner, trusted vp of basketball op, franchise player, building block players around him (Gay, Mclemore,Collison), lottery pick, new arena, gets to stay in his home state, close to family and support cast he can potentially call on for help or poach for jobs. I think there are plenty of reasons he would come here.

I don't know much about Bratz... Isn't he a PDA guy? If so I'd like him gone too.

I think Bratz is both a PDA guy, and an old timer with lots of background.

Has been off the radar.

Personally, I think it's wiser to just stick with this crew into this season. There is no reason to bring in a guy who might try and tear things down because he'd rather a different shade of color on the walls. The things needing to be done on this team are clear, you don't need some type of genius GM to "figure it out". It's pretty black and white. If it doesn't work then move on, but there needs to be BUILDING this offseason, not demolition. For any GM coming in the idea should be improving on what's there, not trying to reconstruct it into something entirely new until it has to be.

I guess I need to do some research before I decide if I'm okay with this or not. I know very little about Bratz.

It's been reported that Bratz pushed for us to draft payton even when Pete D was gunho for Nik so that's a plus

I can blame the jimmer pick on the Maloofs but can't say the same about the Salmons trade, that added salary

You are correct, that is seldom brought up. I doubt if any tinkering was going on the ownership said grab the fish too.

That can all be factored in when interviewing a candidate. Most importantly we need the different parts to be on the same page (owner, president, GM, coach, players).

What about Kenny Smith? His bball insight is always interesting and I've always liked how envisions how a team should play. Not to mention he is a champion and a home town kid.

I just wish all of these changes can cease and we have some stability around here. Being a long time Sac fan from the Bahamas I'm ready for a championship!

Hell no to Kenny Smith. The same goes with Barkley too.

The Kings would be even a bigger laughing stock than it already is.
