Do Not Trade Nick Young For A Bag A Chips
I know he's getting old coming off a terrible 2014 2015 NBA season (injured a lot) but don't trade him while his value is low give him one more shot. Nick Young could easily come off the bench and give us 8-12 points on a given night like JR Smtih. That should be his role on the team. No more 18ppg Nick Young his offensive consistency isn't that high his FG% would pumet.
The only way we should trade him is if we need cap space for LMA which IMO should be the ONLY FA we target unless(LBJ opts out which he won't/Jimmy B but RFA) or we get some valuable at >5mil

If trading Young means we can sign Middleton I'd do it.

I like Nick Young for the entertainment value. With that said, even though he's very skilled at creating his own shot, he's so bad at everything else that I'd trade him in a heartbeat.

The Bucks traded Brandon Knight so that they have the means to match any offers for Middleton. He's not going anywhere.

Re: Do Not Trade Nick Young For A Bag A Chips
I've tried to trade Young on the T&T forum mostly to free up more cap. I really don't think he's as terrible of a contract as what those other posters are saying. They're treating him like he's a leper and even giving up the 27th/34th isn't enough. Lin got us the 27th pick, Mcgee got bout out and will probably get Sixers a pick in the 20's and both these guys total contract is as much as Young, its just that Young is signed for 3more years. Anyways I think he can still be of value to us, our bench still stink and will more than likely still consist of dleague talent and 2nd yr players who were also former dleaguers.

With Kobe getting hurt a lot and even if Kobe is 100 percent. Kobe will only play around 60 games. so Nick is a good option to fill in for Kobe. If Nick does really well. Then his value is higher and then we can look to trade him.
If some foolish team offers the Lakers a future #1 for him. They should consider it. We still owe 76ers and Magic #1 picks, so Lakers need to replace those assets with equal assets to rebuild in future.

nick young needs to go if the lakers want a championship MENTALITY team...these nick young's of the NBA don't give a rats ass about winning. They're about having fun and living large...winning is the least of their worries....they're the types of guys who are just naturally gifted athletes making lots of money but have no regard for quality basketball. Thats why I loved having antawn jamison, vujacic, and ariza on the team. Whenever they played, you knew you were gonna get some good production out of them.
theres a big mental gap between the 2 categories- one cateogory is filled with likes of young, jr smith, mcgee, jamal crawford...these guys have worlds of natural talent but refuse to take their mental game to the next level
then you have the 2nd category with players like, tony allen, vince, ariza, brewer etc who are seasoned vets, know their roles, and give everything they got to the team.
I wouldn't even mind not getting another quality player in return for nick young...ive been saying it for like 2 years now..hes got to go...ill take a quality veteran who knows his position and excels at it over nick young anyway...somebody cheap and seasoned like thabo sefolosha, aaron brooks, paul pierce, shaun livingston, mike dunleavy.

^^^ Agreed.
You don't want him on a Championship team. Would much rather have a guy like Michael Frazier who could do the exact same thing at 4m less. He can also defend and has a good team mentality.

And I would WAY rather have Wayne Ellington, he knows his role and plays to his role.

I'd trade him for a late first, which is the draft pick equivalent of Ruffles, right?
Seriously though, I would trade Swaggy P in a heartbeat. Jabari Brown fills that role well enough.

No you trade Nick Young for a used condom and a 20 cents off shake and bake coupon. The dude's contract is an absolute killer. I don't think people realize that this is the only season where our capspace is going to make a difference. When the cap goes up it goes up for every team! We can no longer use capspace to our advantage.

Because I'm pretty sure that there's at least one stupid team out there that would trade a 1st for him.

Hard to imagine is value improving as long as Byron Scott is the coach. Those two just aren't meant to be on the same team.

He's not that bad. I don't particularly like his attitude too much but he can still be a spark off the bench as long as he is reigned in a little bit. As for his attitude, its not as if he's a locker room cancer. Just doesn't look good having so much fun on a lottery team. That said, we kinda started playing well when he started playing after off season injury so he is not useless. We can probably get something of value for him when everyone starts getting cap space next offseason.

Re: Do Not Trade Nick Young For A Bag A Chips
he's not bad, not for the amount he makes and the production he provides, he's not bad
if he was making a bigger paycheck, we'd have gripes, but to have a backup guy on backup money that's able to get a good shot off when the clock's running down is priceless

Very well said.
In addition, think about this:
Clarkson.
Randle.
Brown.
Black.
Pick #2.
Probably at least one more pick.
Yes, there is the possibility of acquiring some veteran leadership and for a while, at least, there's Kobe...
BUT you do not want this guy in a locker room of a young team (no pun intended). Mental laziness is infectious!
Swaggy P was entertaining in a year that we needed something to entertain us. Time for the sideshow to end and for Lakers basketball to return.
Addition by subtraction.
If more people thought like I do, the world would be a much better place.
