its a shame NYK has nothing of value, I wouldn't mind it at all if they had another 1st or next yrs 1st to offer. I would gladly give them #2, Young, Kelly and any other useless contract we can dump on them for #4, like 2017 top 3 protected 1st (unfortunately they don't have 2017 1st either lol)

I wouldnt trade anything of value just to clear space, definitely not the #2 pick. We have room for a max. Getting rid of young and Kelly won't create space for a 2nd max player. Besides, I don't see much max players this year that would make that much of an impact and the ones that would probably wont come to LA at this time. Just not worth it.

Houston did it with Lin just so they can sign Bosh and we probably gave them a time limit. Unfortunately for them, Bosh went a different direction.

If Flip takes Okafor...

Post#943 » by rzzzzz » Thu Jun 11, 2015 7:24 pm

...is Towns a given? Seems too obvious, right, but he might take another year or two to develop. Would there be any pressure to consider someone with a more developed skill set, ie. Russell?

take em, seeing if you cant get a boat load of stuff for him if don't think he's "that guy" I mean yes his D and all around ability to shoot looks great but he's a big project, its gona take a lot to get him to be the player people expect him to be. I kinda see the Aldridge potential in him with more rim protection but I think he'll always be more perimeter oriented for the majority of his career.

I'd hope that they take him. Always go for the good big guy, unless said bigman has injury issues.

Yall want a Steph Curry type player like Russell but just look what that type of style of play is doing to him in the NBA Finals. Guarantee that once we reach the playoffs again you'll be glad management picked one of the bigs that can play in the post.

I think Towns going #1 is pretty much a wrap now.

No...he's part of the reason but he's not the whole reason they are in the Finals. Would you care to explain what's going on with Steph? Why is a scrub like Delly making him take bad shots and ill advised passes? If Steph had a capable big man down low he wouldn't be having such terrible games during the NBA Finals. Like I said I value a big man more than I do a guard for that very reason. When it comes playoffs time the game slows down and you need somebody in the post.

I sure hope so. At this point I have my heart set on taking Okafor.

Cool, both teams should make out well. Towns fits much better in MN than Okafor.

Has mudiay worked out already? He was suppose to have his second workout today.

Sounds like Towns wants to go first. Not because he wants to go to Minnesota but he just wants to be picked first. I want Okafor. If Minnesota takes Okafor lets get Russell

Apparently Okafor is getting worst and worst as the days pass by. The consensus number 1 draft pick for the majority of the year all of a sudden might not turn out to be that good :banghead: oh that's right, now that's it's a real possibility that the Lakers land him he has now become the enemy. Or at least some of the post on realgm will have you think that.

yeah well all year i paid more attention to Towns and watched Okafor only in so much as to think "we will not be lucky enough to get him", but I thought "Towns is probably around 4 and we might score him if we are lucky". Granted Towns showed some clutch focus, but I have no doubt watching the movement the kind of mandate Coach K had with no backup for Okafor and what he's made of that his D is going to be average at worst and his O might immediately the best big in the league beyond a few aging dinosaurs who still have more rings than all the D'Antoni zombies combined. If GS state wins this year, they are literally the only Pringles-esque team to win it in my lifetime. The Heat were not a 3 chucking team, they were not a team with a traditional big, but they had L'unicorn... who is also not a 3 chucking guard.

Lol...if that's the campaign that get's us Big Jah then I say job well done media/Towns reps. These last few weeks have seen any and every source prop Towns and tear down Okafor...whoever designed this maneuver for Towns may have succeeded. Notice how Okafor's reps haven't made one peep about propping him for #1 ?

Bottom line is I believe Towns reps want him #1 and Okafor's reps want him in LA.

Well, if you have both young Duncan's offense and defense, you not only have a franchise player, but a transcendent player who can project to be an all-time great. And that's a huge difference. If that player is a 1 way player, they better be damn good at that side of the ball while keeping in mind that upper tier of offensive centers is a list with just 2 people in the history of the league: Shaq and Kareem.

i've been way more emotionally invested in okafor instead of towns.

the skill of this bloke is making me hope the lakers make a return to the triangle

i can see why knicks fans went and cried in a corner when the lottery results were announced
