Brandon Wright. Was solid for the Mavs, solid defender/rebounder for a bench guy and a very capable finisher. Best combination of quality and price it'll take to get him imo.

getting mcgee for cheap and playing the right way can be a dangerous combination with drummond

Wright, McGee or Anthony I'm happy with. Is even be keen to use our 2nd round pick on Upshaw or Christmas to play backup 5

Brandan Wright should be the top guy we go after. If we can't get him, I wouldn't mind going after Cole Aldrich. He'd come pretty cheap and would be a solid contributor off the bench.

Brandan Wright kind of reminds me of an older not as good version of Drummond, I would like him as the backup. Id love to sign Robin Lopez but doubt he comes here and I would be ok taking a chance on Mcgee or re signing Joel.

Brandon Wright is the best of the bunch. He'll be out of our price range, though, assuming we are planning on putting the bulk of our money into SF. If we're willing to start Johnson or Hezonja, then we could get Wright, but otherwise, there are other teams he can go to for a better combination of winning, playing time, and money.

McGee is a worthless asshat.

Joel did a good job as 3rd center last year, and I'd like to keep him, but he's not playing 15+ minutes a game. We should look to retain him AND sign a 4/5... I nominate Amir Johnson.

He for sure isn't the sharpest knife in the drawer, but he can do a PnR and Block Shots. If he could mimmick his 12-13 season 18mpg, 9.1 points, 2 blocks, 4.8 boards, that wouldn't be to bad. I don't know what's going on in his brain tho

Brandan Wright - likely out of our price range and probably looking for plenty of playing time

Robin Lopez - likely out of our price range and would certainly want good minutes

Omer Asik - 50/50 on him given his issues. Probably out of our price range.

Alexis Ajinca - IMO he's a sleeper pick and I'd be interested in signing him depending on price.

Emeka Okafor, Kosta Koufos, Javale Mcgee, Greg Smith- hell no!

Kendrick Perkins, Samuel Dalembert - quality vet probably goes to a contender.

I think we need a 7 footer, we don't have one in the team.
So I wouldn't choose Brandan Wright, Emeka Okafor, Kendrick Perkins, Greg Smith, Samuel Dalembert or Amir Johnson (and I really like Amir).

So, IMO, it should be between Robin Lopez, Omer Asik, Alexis Ajinça, Kosta Koufos, Javale McGee.

Lopez or Asik would be ideal as we need someone in the middle to make some dissuasion, but they will be too expensive.

McGee could be a good pickup, but the risk is high because he could be a cancer for us too. May be SVG will think he'll be able to control him with the help of some psychiatrists, but there will always be a risk.

So, to me, the safest and cheapest choices would be Kosta Koufos or Alexis Ajinça (with a preference for my frenchie ^_^), and with Joel Anthony as a 3rd option.

Please enlighten me on why Koufos would be a quality addition - skills he brings & how he'd be used.

Also give an estimate of how many minutes he'd be wanting to play & how much he's likely to cost

I'm intrigued by Ajinca, not sure what NOP would give him but his per 36 numbers were great last year (16.7 - 11.8 - 1.9)

Wright will get paid a nice deal, plus isn't a banger. McGee is an idiot. If we could sign Ajinca for $2-3 mil and bring Anthony back on a vets min I'd be pretty happy with that depth chart.

Am I the only one who was very pleased with Anthony as our backup? He was our best post defender and made countless winning veteran plays for us in limited time. I'd be perfectly fine with rolling him out as the primary backup and drafting a center like dakari Johnson in the 2nd round to be groomed as his eventual replacement.

Yeah the backup C options are somewhat limited. I guess i'd go after Dalembert, but i feel like he'll go elsewhere.

He played center pretty successfully for the mavs.

Backup center is a pretty interesting situation this offseason. Joel Anthony played well last season in his limited minutes but I don't think he's the kind of guy you want playing 15-20 minutes every game, especially with he foul troubles dre gets into. A way around this would be to find a player that can play both PF and C, but those players are difficult to find.

If they can't sign wright then I hope they bring back Joel Anthony and someone like koufos or ajinca to share backup duties.
