The man averaged an efficient 20,5,5 as a rookie. Mudiay is more athletic than him and a better passer. If I'm getting a better version of Reke then that is no doubt a superstar and give a player like that the max and hold onto him for 15 years

I said a "poor man's" Tyreke Evans.

My fault. How so do you think he'd be a poor man's? I haven't looked it up but I'm guessing Reke's career averages are around 17,5,5 and I just don't see Mudiay doing worse than that. I think it is almost certain at his peak Mudiay will average AT LEAST 16+ points, 5+ rebounds, and 7+ assists

We talking about numbers? How does that contribute to creating a winning team ? MCW gets numbers. Carmello Anthony's an allstar. I am all about style of play and who can make their team potentially better . Who gives Embiid the greatest chance to succeed . I see Noel and Saric as perfect compliments to surround Embiid just like Russels game does.

Supremely skilled guys who can play on and off ball and can shoot. In the past 20 years most of the point guards who have won champships we're shooters and role players not athletic physical point guards who dominate the basketball and drive to the basket. I don't think having a a big athletic point guard who can dunk is a winning formula especially for a team building inside out around Embiid. Russell fits us perfectly and is a better decision maker and shooter than Mudiay will ever be.

Believe me, I know what you mean by this. PG for me is the least important position, mainly due to their deficiency in length thus having a hard time creating much impact for 48 minutes. I also know how a typical 3+facilitate+defensive PG is enough to win the championship, as long as you have a dominant swing or center.

But you have a top 3 pick. With a top 3 pick, you need to take a rare FREE opportunity to land a close to 30 PER guy (superstar). And that's why for me Conley is a bad pick or you don't use it to get Kyle Korver. You don't use a top 3 pick to get a player you think is championship caliber. You use your top 3 pick to get a player who gets you championship (roleplayer vs star-superstar rationale).

No, Mudiay won't be here to dunk over the Goberts of this league. His role here is to breakdown the defense and create opportunities for our guys whether it's Noel/Embiid down low or our shooters. Like I said, a championship caliber team is dynamic. You can't just rely on Embiid to carry your team, because in a play-off setting their will be a lot of "counters" where he will face with guys like Kedrick Perkins or Marc Gasol that would give him a hard time. What happens when our sole guy who can create is shut down? That is where you need a guy who can also breakdown the defense from the perimeter.

That's when the Harden-D12, Clyde-Hakeem and Shaq-Kobe concept/built comes in. And Hinkie's boss, Morey, knew this and talked about this when they tried to get D12 back then. Brett Brown is also very familiar with this with the Spurs with their drive and dish offense with a mix of low post offense for TD in crunch time.

Scoring doesn't make you a star, if not Kevin Martin should be a perennial star in this league. It's the ability to make your teammates better (BPM+PER). And on the offensive end, with a top 3 pick, my opinion is that you don't use it to acquire a shooter. But you use it for a PG who is a match-up nightmare for the opponent that can create and score or to make his teammates better.

You want a shooter? Get Robert Covingtons in D-league. With a top 3 pick, you want a match-up night mare that will command help defense and that for me is Mudiay.

I'm glad you know that Stockton was a better passer at age 19 than D'angelo Russell. Please enlighten me, because I didn't see Stockton at age 19. The 1st time I saw Stockton was the '84 Olympic trials.

Lol I'm pretty sure he was. I don't think it's humanly possible to go from a worse passer than Russ to the maybe the best passer the league has ever seen lol

OK then. Your "pretty sure". You seemed pretty definitive before.

... And if you had better reading comprehension skills, you may have realized in my original post, I didn't compare Russell's passing skills to Stockton's passing skills.

FWIW, Tyreke with a better jumpshot and PG skills makes him a top 3 worthy pick. He's a match-up nightmare at the PG position during his rookie year.

Would be nice if there was more context to why he canceled the workout, or if it will be rescheduled.

But whatever, if it means he's going to LA, let the Auction for Okafor begin. This is great news.

We don't need him anyways, a shooting guard/Small Forward is more of a priority

Mudiay is not a elite athlete look at the hops and explosiveness on those dunks they are average and won't even fly contested in games. What the heck is Mudiay elite skill that is going to make this team special? How does he compliment Embiid and make him a star player ? All I see is a penetrating Jrue holiday without the jumper or a smaller less talented Tyreke Evans with Derrick Rose- John Wall hype. I truly believe we can get another Mudiay but it's hard to find a player like Russell.

Yes, Mudiay is not an elite athlete. What makes him special is his combination of length, strength, skillset and athleticism that would be a nightmare for his defender. If you're fast, he's going to attack you at the post. If you're strong, he's going to attack you off the dribble. And so on..

Mudiay's skill is that he can create off the dribble, off the post, off the iso, off pick and roll and in time even off the perimeter.

He can make his teammates special by the ability to break down the defense on offense and by being a good team and individual defensive player thanks to his strength, length and athleticism.

I tend to believe Mudiay is the tougher guy to find because he almost has it all. The PG mentality, the muscular physique, athleticism, length, work ethic and skillset. Who knows, maybe with enough reps, Mudiay can be as good as a shooter than Russell in 5 years (kupchak rationale and Russell/Mudiay workout shootaround difference)

Never understood why players cancel visits. Even if a team gave you a promise doesn't it benefit you to have as many options as possible.

Moments like this are where I'm glad that Hinkie doesn't give a $#^! because he will just take the best guy regardless of feelings etc. If Russell is trying to get the NY, Hinkie won't pass on him because he annoyed the Sixers.
The feedback I've received from our fans is they understand we are trying to build something great. Good decisions come from having a broad set of options and making tough calls. We will do it unblinkingly. We have to be willing to take smart risks-Hinkie

Seems like a good reason to cancel his visit then,
