I highly doubt Russell was promised anything by any team. I don't buy it at all. I don't really care. And I officially changed my pick in this poll and changed it to Mudiay. I would rather have Mudiay. And it has nothing to do with Russell cancelling. I still love Russell and would be very happy with him should we draft him. I just prefer Mudiay.

Probably shouldnt have scheduled it in the first place then, because this will create a circus.

How does him canceling a workout cause a circus for the 76ers? The speculation that he's the 76ers target goes away, and goes to New York. The only circus from the 76ers' perspective, is on basketball message boards speculating that he doesn't want to go to Philadelphia.

Hot off the press from Pompey:
One source said don’t rule out the franchise securing a workout with Russell in the near future.

If Hinkie is watching another prospect on the day I was supposed to workout I'd be pretty pissed.

I seriously doubt this is what happened. The workout was probably tomorrow (weekend) and Hinkie is probably taking a flight back tonight.

And generally in the media. Instead of talking about Russell visiting (which wouldn't be that big of a deal) now they are talking about him canceling (which is a much bigger deal)

What are you referring to as the "circus"? A couple reporters swinging by PCOM trying to get a glimpse of Wiggins?

I think another possibility is that they are still working out Russell, they just want it to be secret (Which is why we never heard about them working him out in the first place). Which is different than actually canceling.

the report was it was for saturday but maybe timing was just tough for him to get back in time or at least maybe for a diner and visit tonight or something

Name the last Knick that was a global icon like Iverson was in Philly.

No offense to you guys at all, i love the true rebuild and what Hinkies doing
But for a prospects point of view, if he could have a say in either going to NYK with Melo and Phil and be the face of the franchise with the opportunity for more lucrative endorsement deals then going to Philly and being part of Hinkie's experiment, I think he would choose the former than the latter.

I'll grant you that NY from a pure business perspective has an advantage, but the Knicks as an organization are a dumpster fire. They are worse than us on the court, and they have traded away a number of future picks, and are stuck with a maxed out Melo.

The Sixers are a great opportunity for either guard.

I also don't think there is anything that a player could do to get the Sixers to pass on them if Hinkie wanted him. Russell has a world class opportunity with the Sixers.

I think a canceled workout means nothing until we get more information as to why it was canceled or if it is going to be rescheduled.

Hell, even if the Lakers take Russell, getting Okafor would be ****ing awesome. He's the better prospect and we'd have the best front court in the NBA.

I bet Muiday shows up for his workout.
“This may be one of the best jobs in basketball right now,” Colangelo said at a press conference introducing him as the new GM of the 76ers after Sam Hinkie resigned.

Russell would be stupid to pass up on the chance to play with Saric, Noel and Embiid.

This and this.

I don't understand why they would want it to be such a big secret. Are they concerned that he will perform too well and give the Lakers more incentive to nab him?

I thought it would have more to do with throwing other teams (Lakers) off the trail, in case they thought it was an opportunity to extort the 76ers, and still get their man. But since it was reported he got sick, it could be just that simple.

Whoever gets Porziņģis is getting a star. If I were Hinkie I'd be afraid to pass on him.

Hey, I'm afraid to pass on him too, but that doesn't mean that he is a better pick than Russell or Mudiay.

Porzingis may have a ceiling comparable to them, but he has a lower floor than both of them too.

Here's a link to one of the last games Mudiay played: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Acfj-vhpOXc
Looks like there's a few more but haven't checked them out yet.
