It's said to be.
So enjoy and spread the word. ;)

cgf wrote:I wouldn't mind Mlapa. His finishing isn't there to play up front for a first league team and his technique isn't there to play on the wing, but in league two his physical tools can be useful, and we could have a very smooth midfield if Kreilach stays with us; with a versatile attack up front around Mlapa, Brandy, Jopek, Quiring and whichever of the loanees we manage to secure on permanents/whichever new loanees are brought in.

Well, Mlapa can be a really good player in the 2nd Bundesliga but one shouldn't expect and technical abilities from him.
At least not on a normal day.

Foye wrote:Unless they create another 50 mil. by selling Gündogan, Ciro and whoever there is no way they are buying Firmino.

They should be able to sell Ciro for double digits and Gundogan for at least €20 M, while there's a good chance they'll receive roughly €10 M for Ginter as well.

1) Burki's not much cheaper than Horn would've been, and has just as much talent. I take both over Zieler easily, and Trapp aswell. Karius would've been the third option if he and Tuchel didn't seem to hate each other.
2) That's cause 12 mil is overpayment for Castro, but that mistake has already been made and does not signal thirft...
3) They've signed Weigl, there's not as much of an impetus to the Geis move anymore because of that. A LB and solving their struggles in the final third have become higher priorities if they can't get good price for Geis.

30M would take out a big chunk of their remaining transfer kit, but getting 20M for Ilkay would open up what they need to get the LB that they need and get Geis if y'all relent.

I don't expect any skill from Mlapa, but that didn't stop polter from bangin em in for us.

So the reason why Wilmots to Schalke fell through:
Wilmots wanted to get leverage when it comes to transfer deals as condition to sign at Schalke. Plus he openly told Heldt the team you have put in place is mediocre and overpaid.

Sounds like a man who would've helped Schalke. Of course, though, Heldt opted to withdraw his approach to get him in an attempt not to lose any power. Told Wilmots they are not interested in him anymore.

Funny as hell. Finally someone tells Heldt the truth about the mediocre sh*t he put in place instead of doing the a**-kisser.

1) Both Horn and Karius cost 8 mil. at least. Trapp probably, too. So Bürki at 4.5 is significantly cheaper.
2) 12 mil. is market value for Castro. There is also no way Leverkusen would sell to Dortmund if they had any choice to. So indeed it shows how desperate Dortmund have been in their attempt to keep the transfer fees low so far.
3) You can't count on Weigl in a starting role (yet), they should immediately loan him out. So basically nothing has changed with the acquisition of Weigl. Dortmund still lack another quality DM.

And as you say. Dortmunds biggest weakness are the FB positions. Bürki, Castro and Geis would combine for 30 mil. € already.
Then they still need at least two FBs if we are being honest since both Durm and Schmelzer are garbage and Lukasz always injured.

So once all that is done (which is more important than a new offensive midfielder) there is no way that you still have 30 mil. left for Firmino. Unless you are selling at least two of the players with higher transfer value in Ciro, Armenian, Sokratis, Subotic, Sahin assuming they don't want to sell Hummels and Reus.

To be fair, the last guy in Schalke who got transfer powers was Felix Magath, and that mess took years to clean up. Either way this should be Heldt's last coach. If this fails I think he finally loses his job.

1) I've read Horn may have gone for just 6, and 1.5M is nothing to a club like them. So Burki was just the best choice.
2) I don't believe that it is, but I find Castro chronically over-rated. Also Bayer absolutely needed to dumb an 8 this summer. With Kramer coming in and Lars already on hand they needed to cash in on someone, and getting 8 figures for Castro was even better for them than it was BVB.
3) You're underestimating Weigl. He doesn't need to be loaned out and is ready to be Sahin's back up. That said, Geis would still be a good addition if they can get him, but he's just not the priority any more.

You under-rate Durm significantly. That's all that I'll say since we've re-hashed that too many times already. Piscz has battled injuries for two seasons, and Kuba is also an option at RB. Between those 3 they are fine on the right. It's on the left where they need a stud to replace Schmelzer and give them time for their kids to develop.

You also seem to be significantly underestimating their transfer warchest. Even if they pay up the 12M for Geis they'll still have enough to add Firmino before getting any money for Ilkay.

What is Durm good at?
Durm is technically limited for a guy that used to be a striker early in his career.
Just look at the cup final again. Compare the runs from quality offensive-minded FBs like Rodriguez and Vierinha to those of Durm - who does not have the confidence to take on a single opponent in a dribbling.
Durm is not putting enough pressure on the opposing defenses.

On defense...put him under pressure and he is regularly making mistakes.
And unlike guys like Rodriguez or Vierinha (who also have defensive lapses in most games) he is not making up for those mistakes with offensive brilliance.

Lukasz is a much better FB than Durm both on offense and defense. Unfortunately, he can't get on the pitch, though.

Regarding their warchest:
Dortmund were financially totally broken not even 10 years ago. Yes, they had a few very good years financially following the championships and of course the CL final campaign but they are definitely not at the point where they can pull 30 mil. transfers out of their pocket a) without CL money and b) without creating transfer revenue themselves.
If they were to buy Firmino they would definitely take a relatively huge financial risk.

Their spending during these past year has been so frugal not only to pay of their debts, but also to build up a transfer fund while they brought their wage structure more inline with a club that makes as much as they do. They have a massive stadium, rich sponsorship deals and they're selling tons of merch the world over since the CL final. They have the money to spend 50+ in a summer and with an Ilkay Sale that's what a firmino move brings them to.

They have 1 10 at the moment, and that's Shinji. Now Shinji started doing better during the year, but Reus is going to be needed in Tuchel's front two, and Miki will play in midfield 3. So they need to bring in a 10 anyway, adding one like Firmino, who they'll be able to sell for a lot more in a few years if they don't storm back into the CL is the type of gamble that they should finally take with the warchest that they have been adding to.

Rodriguez is the best FB on the planet, I am considering Alaba an 8 for as long as Pep is there to play him in his true position, so comparing Durm to him is silly, but Veirinha isn't a bad place to look. Now Veirinha is much more experienced and was on phenomenal form in this match so we can see the difference. Durm lacked the confidence of Veirinha, but the technical gap is not so big. We saw it last year and at times in this game where Durm felt comfortable that unlike Schmelzer he had the skill and intelligence to quickly interplay with the attackers. He doesn't charge through like Veirinha, this is true, and he does play a more supporting role at FB like Lahm or Jantschke (Jung is the only young german BuLi RB who really charges into the box and even he is more likely to stay wide); but Durm has shown a good deal of skill doing that when confident and on form. I trust Tuchel and a fresh start to help him regain his confidence and his form. With Piscz and Kuba also options that position doesn't require big money yet.

If Durm struggles again, Piscz is all banged up and they are stuck relying on kuba to stay healthy; then sure, spend big on a RB next year, but this year a GK, a LB, a 10, a 6, and another psuedo8 were priorities, with a Ciro replacement also on that list if he leaves.

I would like to add that mysterious insurance against missing the CL spots. The exact amount of money they will receive now is not publicly known but I think it will definitely be significant enough to help them if they intend to buy an expensive yet high-quality player in order to get back to the top of the league.

Dortmund is in an extremely solid financial position. In my opinion underrated on the stock market because too many analysts keep insisting on that an investment is a "gamble for fans" while underestimating the specifics of accounting regarding football clubs. They have extensive hidden reserves and don't intend to accumulate high profits.

Josip Drmic will have his medical this week and join Gladbach.
Borussia also has send a formal offer of €10M to Dortmund for CB Matthias Ginter.
We're said to have reached an agreement with the player, who wants to join Borussia, and now it's Dortmund's turn.

Also, those reported numbers about Mehmedi aren't true. Freiburg's sporting director has stated that Leverkusen will pay more then those reported €5.5 M.
And Freiburg keeper Roman Burki will join Dortmund for about €3.5M, while Roman Weidenfeller was asked to find himself a new club.

Bas Dost on his way to Newcastle. With Bendtner gone as well, they only have Kruse now.

And let's see what happens with De Bruyne. I think he will stay, but ManCity will offer huge amount of money.

So easy for Bayern when all their rivals are nothing but selling clubs.
Dirk Nowitzki, Steve Nash, Kevin Garnett, Toni Kroos, Pep Guardiola, Ernst Happel, Joachim Löw.

Let's not act like Dost and Bendtner are brilliant players they can't replace (sorry, Lord). Sure, Dost had a couple of nice games but he's really nothing special.

As long as De Bruyne stays, and I think he will for one more year, I don't see what makes them a 'selling club'.

It seems you dont understand what a seller club is No_20.

A seller club is not a club that sells players they have little use for.

Dost for his good 2nd leg of the season is still a very limited player. He's just technically not very advanced. As long as they can get money for him they should. Especially, if it helps bringing back Mario Mandzukic.

Dost was insanely hot for that month. Utterly useless 99% of the rest of the time, but for that one month he was a monster. Now granted Kruse is better than him at absolutely everything except for being 8 feet tall, so Dost had no more purpose for them, even if they don't sign Mandzukic or Lukaku.

Kruse is limited as well. And the same with Mandzukic.

Let's see if De Bruyne stays. A player like him deserves a bigger market. I believe he is a top 6-7 player in the world. Wolfsburg are just way too small to have a player in that tier.
Dirk Nowitzki, Steve Nash, Kevin Garnett, Toni Kroos, Pep Guardiola, Ernst Happel, Joachim Löw.

Well, he is not wrong there. Kruse is a limited player, too. But a better one than Dost. He is better technically and playmaking-wise than Dost but his tendency to spend half the game on the left side of the pitch can sometimes be a negative since there'll be no striker in the box at all.

Well, if you get Kruse you better know that he's not a real striker but an offensive player.
He's a 9.5 that likes to be involved in the built up play and not the one waiting for the final pass to arrive in the box.

Because of that Favre played Raffael further up front and had Herrmann always making runs towards the goal to finish those plays.

BTW: If Wolfsburg can sell Dost for a good price(and the Lord for anything at all), while buying Mandzukic as well then they've had a great offseason.
Also, Schalke really wants Geis, as Super Horst(I'll just call him that for now  ) told the media during Breitenreiters introduction.
It also seems like offensive midfielder Daniel Didavi(Stuttgart) could join Leverkusen.

Schalke will not get Geis. They would have to spend their entire transfer budget on him lol.
