Re: Russell cancelled workout wild speculation [POLL]
We are stuck in a slow news cycle.
1. The Sixers no longer use the words Wells Fargo.
2. The Sixers would like Saric to come over.
3. Russell got sick and had to reschedule.
That is a whole bunch of non-stories.

"You need a great perimeter player and a great post player to win titles"
Robinson/Duncan?
Jordan/pippen?
This years golden state warriors have a star post player?
Talent wins. Not necessarily a complete balance. You don't pass up talent(okafor) for somebody who might be a better "fit" (Winslow, porz, Mario, etc) draft for talent, use FA or trade for team fit. Simple as as that

There are obviously exceptions.. Having the best player of all time on your time might be one of them (Jordan/Pippen). The 1999 Spurs team was won in a shortened season (50 games), and they had two of the top 20 or so big men to ever play the game, including Duncan who is easily in the top 10. Every other championship team Duncan was a part of had Tony Parker, who I would say is a generational type talent.
This years Golden State team, I would argue, would not fare well against some of the NBA champions of the past.. They just so happen to be playing in a pretty down era, IMO., at least. This Cavs team they are playing is so decimated by injuries, and were they even that good to begin with? I am still highly highly skeptical of this entire "small ball" era, to be honest. I would agree with you that, in the end, talent wins.. But to be a truly generational team, a dynasty per se, you need both. A generational big man and a generational perimeter player... Except if you have Michael Jordan.

Re: Russell cancelled workout wild speculation [POLL]
Even though Russell is a great fit for the Sixers, and I think he is a great prospect and is exactly what I want for this team, the worst case scenario is that we take Okafor, who in my mind, despite I am low on him, is undoubtably a better prospect than Russell.
If there is any GM who won't panic and find out a way to come out of this on top, it's Hinkie. He is a master asset collector and Okafor>Russell so we will have a better team in the long run somehow if this is what happens.
That said, he probably just got sick, and this is even more of a non-story than Embiid wearing a boot for a day.

Sam canceled the interview. He told Russell there's no way in hell he would waste a top five pick on him.
“This may be one of the best jobs in basketball right now,” Colangelo said at a press conference introducing him as the new GM of the 76ers after Sam Hinkie resigned.

I love that theory about the Lakers and the Knicks, that by far is the most plausible and not laughable at all.

But don't the Knicks want a big man? Why would they trade up, only to take Russell?

Re: Russell cancelled workout wild speculation [POLL]
think this has just blown out of proportion.. The lakers could have made a promise, or the sixers may not want Russell at 3, but I almost guarantee Russell is actually not feeling well and or Hinkie wants to reschedule the workout in a few days. Russell would love to be a Sixer. He has been Liking pictures of him in Sixer uni's and spoke that he would like to play with Noel and Embiid as they all are friends and have potential to make something special.
Russell even favorited a pic of him on the sixers ONE DAY AGO on twitter so I don't think this is because he doesn't want to play for philly at all https://twitter.com/Dloading/favorites

I never realized Brandon Davies' body was that messed up. I'm surprised Russell "liked" that photo.

Again, I would argue that the Spurs, one of the best examples of a dynasty, didn't need a "generational" talent in the backcourt to win. Manu and Parker are both fantastic players, but clearly would not have won titles without Timmy D. I agree that it is PREFERABLE to build a dynasty with a "generational" talent in both front court and backcourt, but to insinuate that it is the only course on which a dynasty can be built is ridiculous

Re: Russell cancelled workout wild speculation [POLL]
I believe true dynasty's become dynasty's through one purpose only. Extremely hard work from top to bottom. From gm to coach to 6th man to 15th man to towel boy. If I'm the GM and towns and Russell off te board okafor doesn't go past 3. Whether I keep him or not is undecided but okafor is the EASY pick at 3 in that scenario
