I'd pick him 3rd tbh if I was hinkie. I know he's the type of guy who'd not be afraid to do it. His skill set would do so much for a team. He and embiid would make a good tandem . Decent Pg can traded for inexpensively. What hinkie is looking for a corner stones with the high picks. He's looking for home runs then it's on to phase two.

Players on other teams would see that he was frail and weak and they'd push him around, talk trash, shove him after the whistle or when the refs weren't looking etc, it was actually hilarious but the guy was taking a lot of **** from other players. I remember one game where I think Cody Zeller (or the other one) was dunking in his face and laughing

That would be my biggest worry with Porzingis - when he gets to the NBA, other players will test his manhood on a regular basis and he cannot allow himself to be punked. Dirk had to go through the same thing - he said that he strongly considered going back to Europe after his rough rookie season, and had to be talked out of it. So will Porzingis accept the challenge mentally/physically to succeed in the NBA game? Or will he struggle to have an impact against more mature and stronger players.. that's the question none of us can answer now.

Maybe you are right about Vesely being mentaly weak. He plays with confidence in Turkey now, and he looks great. That being said, Wizards weren't the best at developing him. Instead of focusing on his existing skills, they just locked him in the weighting room and told him to put on weight to play PF position. That seemed logical, but in retrospect it didn't worked, it ruined whatever jumper he had, and Wizards never made use of his perimeter D, which was his main skill. I think people needed to be more patient with Vesely, transitioning from European SF, to NBA PF is a process. I think he finally figured it out how to be a good hustle PF, but hes out of the league already.

I really don't know what to think of this kid, it's hard to make a pro comp for him because he has such a unique skill set for someone his size. He's basically an ideal small ball 4 except he's far from small, it's going to be interesting to see how he develops.

This dude has serious potential...high risk high reward. Judging from interviews, video breakdowns, and workouts it seems that he has a tough mentality. He says he knows he needs to add the weight to back it up though. Like any 19 year old kid, he's got work to do. However, his skills are unquestionable. The dude used to play pg, and you can see that in his game.

His jump shot is money, and his handle & hands are legit. His post game/moves are solid, but he needs a lot more weight (which should come in time). That's his biggest weakness which isn't really a concern long term. With the proper coaching on both offense and defense he can learn to become a legitimate post threat and defensive anchor. But it will take time.

He patterns his game after defenders like ADavis and KG...so you know he likes to play on the defensive end of the floor. His English is fluent too so his communication won't be an issue, and he says he's "no Euro stiff" haha. I think the kid will be like Jonas (once he adds more weight), but with much better shooting.

it's going to be pretty funny if this many ppl will fall for this crap again...

when you're a big guy and you don't have anything resembling an inside game.. on offense or defense... it's pretty tough to succeed... players don't develop outside/in... if you're shooting mostly jumpers for your offense at an early age.. you're going to stay out there for the rest of your career... dirk managed to stay out there and just hit everything but he got tough enough very quickly...

something tells me that's just not happening with this guy....

Porzingis actually produced in his the Spanish league which is a league better than Ncaa he is not some mystery like Exum or Mudiay
I would compare him to Rasheed Wallace good jump shot, tough defender, Average rebounder.

he gets pushed around.. even in the euro leagues... lack of rebounding... not much of an inside scorer... miniscule free throw rate...

the guy is not much of a banger... and you need to generate offense inside to survive in the pros...

jonas valanciunis.. who i'm sure i'm just spelled that completely wrong.. had twice the rebound rate with the same frail frame that porzingis has had... so i don't buy that porzingis just needs to gain weight.. it's more likely that he's just soft and the rebounding and defense isn't going to come...
