I assume the pick will be traded for Ty Lawson.

Draft Dekker. Re-sign Brewer. Trade Ariza.
Harden is still a work-in-progress. He can score, but he can't help his teammate that much - Yao Ming

Lol no. I'd prefer the defense not fall apart.

Draft Dekker and re-sign Brewer.

GMs and fans see things differently
too high for Booker and Lyles IMO
Kaminsky will be top 10
kind of surprise to see fans don't like Dekker
the kid has all-around game and play hard
every GM love player like him
especially those playoff team going to draft for role player instead of high potential one

Then why you want to draft dekker? He will see zero minutes behind ariza and brewer and possibly mcdaniels and papa.

mcdaniels is free agent
i read Morey pick up Papa team option for next season
i don't think Morey anticipate Brewer will re-sign his offer
he will still draft best available and then look to fill in the hole through trade and free agent signing

That's why I said possibly McDaniels. It's better to draft for need so late in the draft.

No votes for Tyus Jones. I like Dekker, he's okay but are pg's suck. It's not like we could use an upgrade. We need a pg who is closer to the beginning of his career than social security. Tyus Jones is Young but he will not need a couple of seasons to come in and be better than Jet. He is better than Jet at running the point right now.

Sure Tyus needs some development and by year two he will have more strength and agility but he is better than Jet right now. The kid is the best playmaker in the draft. Plus this thing isn't about who we want but who the Rockets will pick. And unless Morey is messing with us he has pretty much stopped looking at potential players for the 18th pick. All the workouts have been for the 32th pick or possible undrafted rookies.

Morey might be doing some hat trick show here to bait and swith the media but if so it's a doosy. Cause it just doesn't make sense that him and Tyus Jones shut down workouts simultaneously. Even if Tyus hurt his back for real he doesn't start telling people my back is bad. Maybe the Rockets leak it but not Jones people, that hurts his stock. Plus McHale is a Minny guy and I'm sure he has some leanings that way. And that's the ticket. Morey wants McHale's approval. Otherwise McHale will doghouse the guy like he did Canaan.

So I think no matter who you want Tyus Jones is probably a done deal. And the only way we don't draft him is if his already off the board.

you expect a late mid first round rookie pg is going to help us?
Morey will get his PG through trade and free agent signing
this pick draft right will most likely be traded

Point guards taken 18th overall

Shane Larkin - bust
Eric Bledsoe - boom
Ty Lawson - boom
BJ Armstrong - boom
Mark Jackson - boom
Vern Flemming - boom

Calvin Murphy also taken 18th overall but it was a second round pick in 1970 as there were only 17 teams.

I'd trade Papa if Dekker is available. Dekker is better.

Neither one will get much PT if Ariza and Brewer are both still here so in terms of championship contention it doesn't really matter

what is the odd the rookie can contributed next season?
even the first pick is not guaranteed
we are one piece + healthy away
you can't rely that on a rookie

I wasn't advocating it but there's no guarantee we can get a competent PG in trade or free agency so might be a good idea to draft one anyway. I voted for Dekker but only if Ariza is gone, which I realize is unlikely.

Mark Jackson did get Rookie of the Year after being taken 18 and Bledsoe and Lawson had very good rookie seasons.
