I totally agree with this. Russell will log big minutes and get showcased along with elite big men prospects. He'd be in a good spot to battle Embiid for rookie of the year.

Different angle from the last one and showed more shooting clips.

The guy sounds really humble and mature and seems to get it.

True.. He'd play back-up with the Wolves. Play under the shadow of Melo and Kobe. I think he'd be stupid to pass up Sixers. Hell, Sixers might even be his "OSU" where we can construct a team or system to hide his weakness and put his strength at the spotlight, similar to MCW. For me Sixers is a paradise for any rookie. We give opportunities for lotto players to be franchise players. We give opportunities for long term pro for 2nd rounders.

Plus we focus on teaching here, and Brett Brown has a pristine pedigree for player development.

How much better would it have been for guys like Vonleh or Stauskus to have been drafted by the Sixers?

Still wish there was a way to get Vonleh here. One of my favorite players from last year

It's guys like those languish on the bench much longer, Sam will be able to get them cheap like he did with the TRob.

I think between Mudiay and Russell that Hinkie we will pick the guy that Coach Brown can get the most out of developing . So I want to know who is the guy that most of this board has the highest upside, tools and ceiling .

If you believe that then I think it's Mudiay. There is only so much you can develop with Russell. He can be an even better shooter but Brown can't make him dibble better or get faster or quicker or more athletic. Mudiay has a lot of untapped talent and he's already very good now. I know you hate Mudiay with a passion but I think he will be the pick. All Mudiay needs to get to that next level is being a better shooter. He beats Russell in just about every other category.

He can't help Russell dribble better?

Brown is more of shooting guru and I don't remember many poor ball handlers becoming Kyrie good.

Russell's handle isn't bad tho. He favors his left but a lot of right handed players favor their right. The question w/ Russell is whether or not he can get by dudes with out a screen and if he can not get scorched defensively every night. The latter I worry less about since well most PGs get lit up in todays NBA, we have bigs to hide him, and I also think he generally pulled a late year Kobe and tried to rest on defense because of the scoring load he carried offensively...hopefully that will not be the case here. The former issue is the bigger one..I feel like we need guys to also be able to get their own shot when things fall apart and also to put pressure on the D when shots aren't falling. I worry that Russell may be a shooter who can pass really well and is good at PNRs at this level...we will still suck so maybe we can get a guy who fills those other needs later..but it is worrisome.

However, I do wish people would stop talking about Russell like he is some 23 year old senior...he has a lot of potential and growing to do just like Mudiay. He's no finished product. Who knows perhaps growing into his body and getting stronger will assist with his finishing ability and ability to get into the paint. He's a 19 year old kid...still has time to grow.

No. I doubt it. Russell can get better handles on his on practicing. I doubt he will ever be as good dribbling as Mudiay though just like I doubt Mudiay will ever be as good as Russell shooting.

Russell's handle isn't a problem.

Where did this skepticism about Russell's handles/dribbling come from? It's a non issue and seems just pulled out of the air.

He was on-ball plucked more than you'd like. But it's not a huge deal. He's still a pretty dynamic dribbler.

As a SG his handles are fine. As a PG his handles are not all that. He gets stripped more than I would like.

@franfraschilla: About to see Emmanuel Mudiay work out here in LA. He's had incredible journey from Congo to DFW to China and back and handled it well.

@franfraschilla: Watching Emmanuel Mudiay working out at 360 Club in Reseda. He's obviously worked on his shooting. Good performance. http://t.co/ldNMvi3VzQ

@franfraschilla: Workout guru Joe Abunassar with EmmanuelMudiay. It's all part of the draft process. http://t.co/c3eXVXOcik

@franfraschilla: Really enjoyed spending the day with Emmanuel Mudiay & his family. Has always been a high character guy. His mom and brothers have done well

@franfraschilla: Without having the Stockholm Syndrome, I have to admit that Emmanuel Mudiay has improved his outside shooting. His stroke was very fixable.

Was thinking of this the other day..

What makes Russell a better player than Dragic? Both are good shooters. Dragic is a better ball handler. Dragic maybe shorter but he's quicker and slightly more athletic, that compensates his shots around the rim and defense.

Mudiay..

I was thinking. Why Jrue hasn't flourished despite his tools and skillset, and the thing that standsout for me is the lack of motor and drives around the rim with about 2 fta per game. And I think with better size and athleticism of Mudiay, he'd be a much better slasher than Jrue.

A good comparison I see is Bledsoe. Bledsoe started off not being a good shooter but eventually improved. 18 PER PG, can drive, shoot and facilitate plus play very good defense. Mudiay could be a bigger version of Bledsoe. I mean, slightly bigger. Because the bigger one, they say, is LeBron.

Well the only year Dragic shot the ball above average from 3 as a full time starter he made an All NBA team. I'd take that.

Also 5.5 FTA that year.

I was also thinking what happens if he went into a shooting slump, like all shooters do and defenders don't respect him to drive and his off hand.
