Fast forward a month, they announce Embiid will undergo a bone graft surgery ala Kevin Durant and is out for the year.
They elect to keep Saric overseas another season.
76ers draft Kristaps Porzingis and tell him to stay overseas for a year.
76ers run it back with the same team from last year and make a run at Ben Simmons.
I'm not even a 76ers fan, but the thought of being able to essentially 'bring in' Embiid, Saric, Porzingis, and Simmons the same year would be epic. Would just need one more rookie to have the NBA version of the Fab Five.
Nope.
we cannot keep holding out hope for the next years player. We had our hopes up for Wiggins last year. Nope. Had our hopes up for Russell this year...looking like a nope.
Build a team with what we have and move onto plan B, i.e collecting talent for trades if we don't get a star via the draft...but it cannot be based only around our upcoming draft pick.
Kristap HAS to come over ASAP if we take him...if not then take Russell or Mudiay.
**** off with this not adding ANY talent ****.

A Noel, Embiid, Simmons and Mudiay core is crazy.
if Embiid can't play this season, you have to accept reality and understand he's probably never going to be part of the core.
You don't miss 24 + months due to injury and come back to play NBA basketball at a high level.
Like I said, he was playing at a high level and didn't experience any pain before the latest diagnosis.
Most of the time when natural healing doesn't go as planned, they'll opt to go for surgery which is the more riskier but most of the time, more effective route.
And again.. Just second year of rebuilding. Top 3 pick, Noel, capspace and possible Simmons could still give us a contender.
Far from being end of the road even at worst case for embiid, which isn't likely.
There’s never been a time in history when we look back and say that the people who were censoring free speech were the good guys.

and then when Ben Simmons doesn't go to our pick, or another setback happens...we will just tank for another guy.
come on guys.
Its not all bad but I cannot believe I am hearing people basically calling for us to yet again kick the can down the road.
we off that.

Re: Uh oh, Embiid suffers setback per Woj
Let me get this straight....his injury isn't healing as well as expected; therefore they will reconsider his current activities.
If that's true; then his bone must not have been healed 3 months ago, yet he was practicing and playing pick up games, etc...
Why was he allowed to be so active?
I really really want to say other other things (Hinkie must go), but I won't.

I was ripping you for insulting everyone whilst you do it. I have no issues with people hating on "the plan" just when they are kinda assholish about it (you) or just straight make up **** to prove their point (general board).
but no go on...dance around happy it. Can't stop you now.

I didn't insult anyone...didn't call anyone "assholish". Do you think I enjoy this farce? I was/am frustrated that so many Sixer fans have been hoodwinked and bamboozled to see the light.

Here you go all, Idk who the hell this guy is, idk the website, source is unfamiliar to me. It's a source nonetheless, source of something; but a little optimism never hurt nobody!
Only information that has been officially released is just slow healing/progression , no "setback" technically. Maybe all his training & working out, grinding on that bone has been delaying the healing of the bone. We just all tend to panic over any scent of bad news it seems, portion of us anyway lol. #TeamChill

Saturday night, June 14th, news had been reported that Joel Embiid had suffered another setback on the rehabilitation of his left foot. While no official word has been sent down about the severity of the injury, here are some reasons to be optimistic. All direct quotes and information from this article have been taken from the original report on csnphilly.com.
1. "Less healing than anticipated at this point,"- Sam Hinkie.
The word being tossed around a lot with this injury is "setback," when in reality all it has been described as so far is a slow progression. Hinkie has not used the word setback once, so any belief that a second surgery will be needed is unnecessary at this point unless the injury is being understated (which I find hard to believe).
2. "According to Yahoo! Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski, Embiid hadn't felt pain in his foot after recent workouts," csnphilly.com.
It is hard to believe that any injury could be severe if the player had never even felt pain when pushing his body to the limit. The CT scan showed that Embiid's foot is not healed to the point they believed it should have been at this point in the rehabilitation process. This does not imply that further damage has been implemented on the foot.
3. The severity of Embiid's last "setback."
Last time Joel Embiid had a setback on his left foot fracture it turned out to be nothing, Embiid wore a boot for precautionary reasons. Upon further review by his Los Angeles doctor, not only was it not a setback, but he was able to take on a bigger work load following the visit. Another point to be optimistic about is that he felt pain in his foot last time, this time around Embiid hadn't felt pain and was just going for a regular rehabilitation visit. For these three reasons, I am not panicking about the recent news about Joel Embiid's rehabilitation.
This report may end up being a blessing in disguise for the 76ers organization. In a few days the 2015 NBA draft is going to take place in Brooklyn, NY, and the Sixers have the third pick. Most of Philadelphia still believes D'Angelo Russell is the best player to take at this position in the draft. But after an incredible workout, Kristaps Porzingis has risen into the top three of many mock drafts across the web (one specific example is draftexpress.com).
On the tail end of the Embiid news the Sixers could draft Porzingis, who could potentially be the best player in the draft. If the Sixers would have drafted him two days ago Philly may have gone up in flames that night. But now with the recent Embiid injury news it could be viewed as a safety net pick.
Now I realize injury or not Sam Hinkie will make whatever pick he believes will make the franchise the best it can be, but this will help keep from more people from overreacting.
My belief is that at worst Embiid will miss Utah Summer League, which starts July 6th, and be ready for the regular season.

Now we know why they're trying to get Saric over here....not because Hinkie wants to win, but probably to appease some fans and maybe keep Brett Brown from losing his mind

Seems to be just a blog post written by a rational fan who is not overreacting to what we know today.

True, I'm on board though. No reason to panic, not going to help any so I'm doing my best to remain calm & rational + optimistic. I genuinely feel this could either be a smokescreen, or precautionary. Draft is around the corner, what better way to send other teams into a frenzy of confusion. DeAngelo workout cancelled, KP6 suddenly shooting up, now this news, all very interesting sequence of events. Not necessarily related but interesting nonetheless, again though the official word has been slow healing, no setback(s).

Re: Uh oh, Embiid suffers setback per Woj
this has been an awful last couple of days for our potential future.
Russell cancels, Kristaps hype, Embiid's foot is slow to heal, next up Mudiay will get caught on bath salts, Kristaps decides to become a rapper, Mario has to save Princess Peach, and Silver takes our pick for tampering with Saric.
The worst part is all the smug **** get to be smug and basically celebrate.
sucks

I'm not interested in celebrating.....would rather be wrong about this. But I'm fairly confident in my stance.

Not a smokescreen, no team would ever use their player like a pawn, it only would decrease his value around the league plus Joel's agent would have came out swinging denying the reports.
