What about Tobias Harris? I think we should swing for the fences this offseason, even if that means overpaying or trading multiple first rounders for the right player. If we can get Monroe and Jackson to agree to resign I say we throw max money at Harris. We would vault ourselves into a 5th or higher seed next season imo.
Jackson/Jennings
Caldwell-Pope/Meeks
Harris/Butler
Monroe/Tolliver
Drummond/Monroe/Anthony

Re: Detroit Pistons 2015 Cap Space Projection
I think I recall someone mentioning that Nike will give Harris a bonus if he signs in LA/NY/Chicago, and considering how awful the Lakers/Knicks are and the cap space they will have the summer, I can see one of them paying him max money if they are unable to bring in a top FA like Dragic or Marc Gasol. He's also from NY, so there's that.
It's a worth a shot to at least make an offer, because in terms of talent if Monroe resigns (and Reggie, which is almost a given since he's restricted) then I legitimately believe we are the best destination for him if he wants to win. But I think Orlando is more likely to match a max than Harris is to even accept an offer sheet from us.
I'm a fan of his and love his game, but I just don't see it happening.

I like Harris as well- I'm conflicted as to what we need more at the 3- defense or offense. Harris can score and has really improved his shot but he's still not a + defender- although he's improved. KM is a very good defensive player but not the scorer Harris is although he's a much better shooter.

That was my dilemma as well. Ultimately, I looked at a guy like Harris vs a guy like Middleton and realized that Harris has much more natural talent. He can score in many different ways and just has a higher ceiling. Also, SVG has a knack for getting average to below average defenders to look respectable because of his defensive schemes and constantly preaching higher energy and effort on the defensive end. I think SVG could get the most defensively out of Harris, especially considering that Harris at least has very good size. I would be fine throwing a decent sized contract at Middleton too though. I've always liked him and was upset when Dumars traded him instead of Singler.
This will be a very tricky offseason for SVG. There are a lot of restricted FAs that would fit like a glove here and would potentially vault us into a good playoff spot next year. Leonard, Butler, Green, Harris, and Middleton would all be great but who is the right guy that A.) will fit best here and B.) is most likely to be let go from their team. That's a tough question. How do the Magic feel about Harris? Wasn't there talk of trading him early in the season? Do they value him as a cornerstone piece that they will resign no matter what?

IMO Monroe understands his talent is better suited at the 5.... I would expect the Pelicans to go all in to match him with Davis.
Hometown & right position for less money?

In a perfect world im sure he would rather play the 5 but he has excelled at the 4 next to Drummond so it doesnt really matter. He plays plenty of 5 here too.
& tons of guys will go after him, hes the type of player thats nearly extinct in todays world.

Re: Updated Detroit Pistons 2015 Cap Space Projection
Good stuff. This is still enough capspace for a starting SF, a backup SF and a backup C. I am hoping for Tobias Harris (15-16 mil) or Demarre Carroll (12-13 mil), Mike Dunleavy (3-4 mil) and Joel Anthony on a minimum contract or slightly more.

I don't perceive there being any free agent realistic free agent opportunities that we lose out on as a result of this trade. We still have a good amount of cap space and SVG was wise to use a portion of it to improve our team via trade. Who knows, perhaps other opportunities like this will be pursued during the offseason.

If he plays this way through the rest of the season then i can see him getting 10-12 based off the production and potential.
It will be interesting to see what the Bucks do- they have Jabari and Giannis at the F spot and KM is a natural SF as well although he can play some 2.
Jackson/KCP/Middleton/Monroe/Drummond would be a really nice and well balanced team with a lot of room to grow.
See bold letters above
would not pay over 10 mill a year for him.

You don't think he is worth the MLE? When the cap goes up so will the Max and MLE.
