There's having depth and there's rotating players in all the damn time.
For offense, defense/ some chemistry, I'd like to see some set guys in there for a period of time.
for games we are ahead or tied, the obvious "must win" crew, goes something like this
7th inning - a shared job of JP Howell and Juan Nicasio. Nicasio also doubles as our long man at this point of our roster.
8th inning - Adam Liberatore. he should be the set up man when we are up. his whip is 0.864 and fib at 1.73. there is nobody on the dodger roster, starter or relief, who can top that other than Jensen.
9th inning - Jenley Jensen. no brainer.
for games we are behind (or tied with our "must win" crew tired), the "catch up" crew should be,
5th through 7th inning - for one inning of work, Josh Ravin. it drives me crazy to see this guy with the game on the line and its already the 9th. yeah his got a 97 mph fastball but it doesn't move. he has no other quality pitch. he should come in when the starter is already blowing the game. he does help however, when we need to drastically change the timing of the hitters and their hand-eye coordination when our starters fail and we need to get out of the inning or take over the next 3 outs.
---------------------------- for long stretchs, obviously it's Nicasio. he is as of now, our lone long man.
8th inning - Daniel Coulombe, IF Ravin is already used... change of pace. if Nicasio was used until now, Ravin.
9th inning - Yimi or JP. once we make a trade to bring in another starter, having Frias in the pen makes everything much easier because it gives our relief corp the needed flexibility. but until then, I would NEVER EVER let Ravin or sporadic call ups such as Coulombe to take the mound while we are up by less than 4-5 runs or tied.
I also believe Alex Guerrero is settling in nicely as our professional pinch hitter. he really has no defensive position we can put him in on regular basis, but he excels at being the next Dave Hansen, so why not. whichever the guy in LF platoon between Ethier and SVS becomes the other pinch hitter off the bench, while Callaspo is our defensive infield backup and **** as our ultimate Utility player.
I have to say, this roster still maybe a work in progress, but Andrew and Farran surely constructed this roster with much deep insight and proper reasoning. it is only upto Mattingly to execute it properly......

ehhhhh f it.
