Furthermore this deceptive notion that bigs are no longer needed or have a purpose in the NBA is the biggest load of bull sh** I've ever heard.
Do people even realize there hasn't been one NBA champion in like the last decade that didn't have some sort of big being a factor ?
People the Lakers don't need to build a team that plays the same way 29 others do, they need to build a team that can be different and pose a problem for the other teams.
I've leveled my stance on the pick, if we use it on a guard then we better have a damn good plan on getting an established big...because this BS the media is spewing about bigs being moot is a lie, we need size and a legit scoring option in the post.
And if we use it on Okafor or Towns, then we better work just as hard on getting a lead guard that can run the show. I don't give a damn if it's Rondo....it's better than not have a damn thing at all.
Hi Deep! It's been a minute, i know that delusional comment was directed at me lol.
Well nobody said just plug in some scrub at center/PF, but the Heat didn't have anyone like Okafor, OKC made the finals without a legit dominating center. My point is you just need a versatile PF that can play multiple position ala ibaka, Draymond, Leonard or a athletic defensive center like DeAndre or Tyson. Dwight was suppose to be some dominant center and that scrub hasn't lead his teams anywhere.....I think the last true great center that lead his teams to championships would be Shaq...you can argue Duncan but parker and manu had as much to do with those teams especially the 2007 and 2014 squads.
I think it will be tough to pass on either Russell or Okafor, the way the league is playing it might be better grooming your potential star PG especially if him and Clarkson can play well together. Just don't want to be that team that took the conventional wisdom approach of always drafting a big first. Portland probably wants a do over and imagine if Chicago didn't take Rose 1.
