Does anyone have a good idea of how the majority of Charlotte fans actually feel about Al, especially casual fans? I feel like almost everyone on here definitely wants him gone and I could see a lot of the really hardcore fans that don't post online wanting him gone as well. I'm not from Charlotte so I really have no idea.

The "casual" fans say that Kemba and Al are the only decent players on the team and everyone else sucks. Trade MKG for Evan Turner, Biyombo will be out of the league soon, yadda yadda yadda. They are the ones who will point at MJ and laugh at him for trading Al Jefferson.

The typical casual fan would believe that Al Jefferson is the only good player on the team with a few of them thinking Kemba Walker is either the alpha or beta. If Charlotte trade Jefferson, the media will ridicule Michael Jordan for the move by looking at the roster and perceptually viewing Kemba as the only half decent player left on the team

Re: Fat Albatross: The Al Jefferson Thread 2.0
I personally don't have as much of a problem with Al Jefferson being on the team as I have with the way Clifford use him. I think Clifford has way too much leniency on Jefferson while ignoring his flaws, not holding him accountable to mistakes, and/or entrusting other options when Jefferson is healthy enough to run/limp up & down the floor

The last game I went to was a birthday gift from a friend who holds season tickets. She and her daughter insist Al is "the only one who scores the ball". I'd say that's a standard perspective of fans who attend games but don't analyze basketball.

I've been thinking…
What if there is a team wanting to get a leg up on signing Al to a multiyear deal and that team is not us? I still hold some hope we can sign-and-trade Al Jefferson.

Al opted in. There's nothing to sign him to.

Still want to trade him. Greg Monroe would be nice.

Re: Fat Albatross: The Al Jefferson Thread 2.0
Seeing these deals I think Al fcked it up not opting out. With his bad last season he would have still got around the same amount as Millsap (around 3/60). Next year even with the upcoming increase in the cap... well.. he will be a year older, probably fatter and very likely slower. I don't believe in his summer regime of staying in shape (more likely getting in shape), and if he doesn't play at a high level in his contract year I can't think of anyone who would give him +10 mill for at least 3 years.
Or I just really wanted him to opt-out...

he needs to be in the best possible playing shape at the start of the season or his minutes should be cut. Last year was pathetic watching him lug up and down the court. Cliff needs to have to cajones to pull him too.

Re: Fat Albatross: The Al Jefferson Thread 2.0
Sneak, I agree, I just wonder what's the chance of him getting in shape. He was super lazy his whole carrier during the summers. In Hungary we had a croatian guy who worked out whole summer long in a kevlar-like suit, with weights strapped on his ankles - doing cardio in them and only put them down when he hit the court for his daily shooting drill of around 1000 shots.
When will Al do anything like this? Just half this hard.... or 1/4 even...

As long as his lover, Cliff, is around Al will always have more minutes than he deserves and a bloated contract to match.

Does anyone know if Big Al has lost any of that weight he promised to lose?

I don't know. I saw some videos on the team website where you could see him in the background, but you couldn't get an up close look at him.
I certainly hope he doesn't look like this coming into the season:

We'll be in business if he looks like he did during his Boston days:

It's pretty unrealistic to expect anyone to look like they did 10 years ago. If it were that easy I would want that program for myself ASAP!!!
I do hope that he comes into camp in shape this year though.

My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

I'm going to have to disagree here. It is possible for these guys to look like they did at an earlier age. They have access to the best training and nutrition. At the age of 30, I've been able to lose a ton of weight and look quite similar to when I was 20, by just sheer willpower, training, and diet. Yes, it's much harder than when I was 20, but that is beside the point. If it's possible for me, then it's possible for them.

Re: Fat Albatross: The Al Jefferson Thread 2.0
In Al's case he's almost certainly added muscle mass as well as fat over the years. Even if you did a "no-carb" diet like several guys supposedly did last year and an intense workout schedule his body wouldn't look the same.
It's fine to want Al to lose weight, be in better shape, etc. It's unrealistic to think that he will ever look like Boston Al again. All IMHO.
(And yes I have a similar experience, Lwcasu. I was far stronger and leaner in my late 20s than I was in my mid 20s, but I was downright skinny in my late teens/early 20s.)

I think if he shrunk down to Boston size he'd lose some of his effectiveness in the post. No doubt he could lose a bit though.

Has there been a media ban on big Al this off season. I haven't heard a peep about him for an eternity.
