UFC 188 (6/13): Velasquez vs. Werdum (Mexico City)

Love this, so many fresh match ups and the story of Werdum rising to the top is the stuff movies are made of.

Just off the top of my head, there are intriguing fights with Arlovski, Alistair, and JDS-- redemptive tales too. Still can't believe we might get an Arlovski/Werdum championship match in late 2015/early 2016. Never say never.

I know this isn't your argument, but let me piggyback your post and say that I don't really understand the narrative that I keep hearing "now that Werdum is champion we have so many fresh matchups available" - CAIN HADN'T FOUGHT ANYONE BUT BIGFOOT AND JDS FOR YEARS AND YEARS. There were just as many matchups available for him.

I know what you mean, but I'd argue that the match ups are even fresher now for Cain. Until this fight, the only guy that I thought had a chance was JDS, now I'm not sure. Even if he's fighting the same guys, no one was clamouring for Cain to fight Arlovski or Browne or Stipe because those would have been squashes that did nothing for either guy. Werdum made ish interesting again.

Seriously, "Sea-Level Cain" is one of the more hilarious mma memes in a long time. Up there with Broke Fitch.
