Marcin Gortat?

Post#1 » by basketballwacko2 » Wed Jun 17, 2015 12:39 pm

Ok we've all been talking about trading Roy, we'd like to get a Center back. What do you guys think of Gortat? He's signed for 4 more years fully guaranteed starting at $11.2 million for 2015-16 with raises he's gonna make $13.5 million in 2018-19. He's already 31 yrs old. Is he worth it?

Considering the length of his contract would you trade Hibbert for him? Would you need some incentive? I'd like to get the Wizards pick at #19, but asking for Gortat and the pick seems to be too much. I'm pretty sure the Wiz are gonna make a run at Kevin Durant when he's a free agent next year, would they like to shed Gortats long term salary to make room for KD? Would they pay off the Pacers to take him? I expect a deal for Gortat they'd have to put humphries in the deal he's signed for 2 more years at $4.4 & $4.6 million. If I'm taking both those longer term deals for Hibbert I would like to get some incentive.

I want to trade the 2014 Hibbert for the 2012 Hibbert ... or was it 2011? If Roy can get out of his own head, he'll be better than anything we could trade him for.

This is a joke right? If Bird even thought about this he should be fired

Not a joke just a question to see what others think. I saw this offered once Gortat and Hump for Hibbert. I don't think I'd do it, mainly because of Gortat's age and length of his deal.

Remembering last year's series with Atlanta and watching this year championship series I wonder if Roy Hibbert and his skill set isn't in some ways obsolete. At least as a full time starter and being compensated as such. Gortat probably provides the same defensive disadvantages when things really get spread out but in my opinion he is a superior offensive player. You would have a better chance of making a team pay for playing small with Gortat than Hibbert.

I'd rather have Kaminsky or Turner than Gortat.

Not bad idea about David Lee, just don't see the Warriors wanting Hibbert at all.

If it were an either or I agree. But if I could move Hibbert for Gortat and then draft a Dekker, Johnson or Booker?

Lee for Hibbert no way. GSW is looking to dump salary, and hibbert plays 98% of the games in a season Lee is washed up, he's 16 min guy who'll be hurt 2 months out of the year. I'd like him at BAE money but not more.

I'd take Hibbert all day over Lee.

To me, he's too old to have 4 more years of high dollar pay. I'd want value, and #19 is at least it.

I'd rather have Hibbert and what we can draft at 11.

Pick 19 and Gortat for Hibbert? I would make that trade.

I like Gortat as a player, but I do not feel he fits the Larry Bird mold. More offensive minded and I don't see enough of an offensive difference to justify our loss in defense.

I think it would be much easier to run a faster pace, motion offense with Gortat than Hibbert.

So if you could get Gortat and the #19 pick would you do it? They'd probably want to throw Humphries into it.

After going to the Washington forum and reading the Marcin Gortat appreciation thread, I'd be very surprised to see Washington make a Gortat/Hibbert straight up trade let alone throw in the 19th pick. Gortat is simply a better player than Roy and while his contract lasts longer its pretty reasonable for an above average center.
