Goran Dragic Contract Negotiations Thread

Post#1 » by MettaWorldPanda » Thu Jun 18, 2015 10:01 pm

Sick and tired of the whole D Wade negotiations thread saga. Feel like we have forgotten about the engine that stirs our new fast paced offense that we traded two first round picks for. Does he stay if D Wade leaves? Do the Lakers and Knicks make legit offers? Who else needs a PG that has cap space? Does Dragic really give up all that guaranteed money and 5th year just because Wade leaves? He still has Whiteside, Bosh, and Mcbob in the front court. Feel like we are assuming he stays but what is the pulse? Hoping he signs with us right away. I love him as a player.

Listening to E Reid on the ticket today and he was so damn annoying talking about Wade's leverage with Dragic. Pretty much saying it's a foregone conclusion Dragic leaves if Wade does. I just dont see how someone can request a trade to a team specifically because of bird right reasons only to leave them for less money regardless. Hoping Dragic is signed first to put all that leverage crap to rest.

Pretty easy..if that team's best player leaves why would he want to stay? Dragic has been complementary of all the guys, but specifically his joy of playing with Wade. They're a very dynamic duo, hopefully they both can see that and this gets worked out.

Wade, Goran and Deng are outta here. We're rolling with Chalmers, Kaminsky, Ennis, Bosh, and Whiteside.

Perfect world is Dragic takes less money and the savings gets filtered to Wade. Maybe 18 million a year works?

Um there's a strong chance he does. Dragic came to the Heat to play with Wade and Bosh. Less incentive when one of the main parts he even put the Heat on his short list is gone. So if Wade is gone, there's a CHANCE Dragic leaves too.

So what is a better situation? Playing with Kobe or Melo or playing with Whiteside and Bosh? Are those situations really any better then the Heat without Wade and giving up about 18-20 million for that?

Goran's staying, we can offer him almost $30 mill. more than anyone else. Wade's decision won't effect Gorans, if anything they'll be able to sell him on the fact that the offense will be his to run completely. That plus a ton of money= Dragic's staying.

Exactly, Goran loves it here. LeBatard has said that he REALLY wants to stay in Miami. He's ours as long as we're willing to pay him. I don't see how he could hate it here so much that he would leave us to play somewhere else for $30 mill less.

And plenty of money to build around him and the core for next year. High Five Quiz

If Wade dips I actually hope Deng opts in so he can help groom Stanley Johnson. Reward Deng with a three year deal when we get his bird rights next year. Deng's mid range game and close to basket play works when you have Bosh and McRoberts on the floor. Wade and Deng are an awful pairing but Deng with a three point shooter at two guard and a stretch 4 works perfectly.

Dragic did not choose to come here. Yes, we were on his list, but those teams had cap space, no point guards, and a big market.

Dragic cares about running a team. Bosh is here to stay obviously, then there is Whiteside.

Let's say Wade does leave, it means we're paying Whiteside, no? Those two guys with Dragic would be great, and Dragic knows that. Even with Bosh alone, the Dragic PnR with Bosh can be deadly.

Obviously we all would want Wade to stay, but I don't think its a forgone conclusion Dragic leaves if Wade leaves. Will he leave if we offer him 5yr/100mil (worse case scenario Wade leaves and we have to throw big ass money at him)? Where else can he get that type of money? He likes the franchise, he likes Pat Riley, apparently likes Spo (Dragon has had so many coaching changes and wants stability, the fact that Spo is stable and has history with the team MAY be a factor).

If anything Dragic might actually want to become the main man here if Wade is gone, he said he wanted to be the main PG and run things like "Steph Curry" (reports apparently said so). Welp we won't have another ball handler so he for sure will do everything.

NOW, Dragic said he will look at his options. Apparently said tho, if we offer him what he wants, he won't look anywhere else. His first option is to look at what we offer. If he ends up actively looking at other options, it means we didn't give him what he wanted and wants to see if its worth it and still check out what other teams have to offer, if its a better opportunity,

What does that have to do with disagreeing that " we can pay Dragic 30 mil more than anybody " is a positive?

He's a friggin bit player, damn near 30 and that's all he has ever been, and he KNOWS it.

Again, why are you trying to force the franchise on someone that has no interest in it?

Max out several complimentary players, and not a superstar in sight, go Heat!!!

Now tell me why you want to hand over the franchise to a borderline top 10 pg

http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/237933/Goran-Dragic-Assured-Heat-Will-Play-Faster-Moving-Forward.

Why are they assuring Dragic that we will play faster? Doesnt that mean they want to structure the offense around him?
