I was thinking about making the official board prediction thread, but thought it would be redundant. What say you guys? There is a difference between who you want and what you think the Sixers will do.

I think in the end, it's chalk and we get Russell. No shocks, no surprises.

I just can't wait until we get through the draft and can start talking about what we have on the team instead of endlessly going around in circles about who MIGHT be on the team and who stinks.

I really don't know what is going to happen on draft night, but whether it is Porzingis, Russell, or Mudiay, there is a 90% chance that one of them will be on our team. It will be fun going into summer league with whomever it ends up being.

He's a combo guard but you hardly ever see starting combo guards. Jamal Crawford is a combo guard but he doesn't start. Can anyone name me a starting combo guard who is very good and makes all star games? I don't think it's as easy to be a full time PG as some may see it. And I'm not bashing Russell. I really like him and would love him if we get him. I'm just asking the question because he's not a true PG.

Russell Westbrook was a shooting guard coming out of college, never payed PG. J'rue Holiday was a shooting guard coming out of college, wasn't the starting PG for his college team . Marcus Smart was a combo guard coming out of college, wasn't the starting PG for his HS or college team. Deron Williams was a combo guard coming out of college, wasn't the starting PG for his college team. That's 4 guys, 3 All-stars off the top of my head.

Deron Williams was considered the best PG in the league at one point, and he is no more athletic than D'angelo Russell.

Jrue was a true PG, that made him the top player in his HS class. He slide to SG because Daren Collision decided to stay one more year. Jrue would pretty much be a complete PG if he was more athletic, can get to the rim and get to line more than his usual 2 fta/g.

Jazz version of Deron is way more athletic than Russell. Actually, reminds me of Mudiay's athleticism.

Westbrook's got elite athleticism that allows him to guard elite PGs. He also is one of the best in breaking down the defense to score and getting his teammates good looks.

KIND of true lol. I mean, Randle is your best piece I'd say, & he missed pretty much the entire season as well. If J.R. is your best piece, both him & Embiid missed their Rookie seasons, & Embiid has like at least 10x the potential Julius does..

If you want something truly outlandish to quote, I'd say quote John Murdoch LOLOL

haaa. I love how he's expecting me to have my foot in my mouth a year from now. The only thing that concerns me about him quoting me is...people might start to think I'm psychic and start asking me questions about their personal life. I can't handle those lofty expectations.

Mudiay has the "no one is talking about him" thing going for him. Hinkie keeps it close to his chest (Jrue Trade, MCW trade, Saric pick) all came without any rumor. Mudiay has been linked to us but Russell and now Porzingis got way more hype.

That being said, I don't think we take Mudiay at 3 but rather trade back to get him and a piece or two for our trouble. As Russell or Okafor WILL be on the board and I don't see how you pass up on that for "free"

What do you have to quote? As of RIGHT NOW, Embiid is worth more than any Laker... Obviously by next year that could change.

I'm probably highest on Hezonja tbh, Russell is more realistic and up there with him though.

broseph13 wrote:I honestly don't understand why people on this board enjoy Mudiay so much. I just don't see what's so "elite" about his game and I've seem him play in full games in high school and in the CBA. He's a nice player, but drafting him #3 is like, at least in my opinion, drafting Brandon Knight or Jeff Teague caliber player #3. Sure, they're solid players, but with the #3 pick, I feel like you have to select a guy who has the potential to be an All-NBA team caliber player and total game changer. If Mudiay had Westbrook level athleticism, I could overlook his lack of a jumper....but he doesn't. In my book, the only true potential game changers in this draft are Towns, Okafor, Russell, Porzingis, possibly WCS (on defense only). That's it.

"The game is a house, and some players only have one or two windows in their house because they can't absorb any more light," says Mike Krzyzewski,

Mudiay, doesn't have only1-2 windows. He kind of reminds me of Bynum or Kawhi for a prospect that he has this huge base to paint a limitless art, depending on how far will his development lead him.

I don't see any fundamental flaws. His shot mechanics looks good, he can dribble with both hands and low like a PG & he also should be able to guard star PGs, while his combination of feel/maturity, IQ, work ethic, size, physique, athleticism and skillset gives him the potential to be elite in several aspects of the game in the future, the combination of these may make him an elite penetrator, elite post player, elite playmaker, elite defender and etc.
The problem with his shot is his timing. He shoots the ball differently in workouts than he does in game. He jumps too high when he shoots in game and releases his shot at the apex of his jump, or even almost on the way down. This is destroying all momentum coming from his jump. The great shooters aren't jumping very high on their shot, but when they do get up there more, they are releasing it on the way up.

He also doesn't look very confident in his shot as he will hesitate and looks a little stiff. He needs to not jump as high #1, and just let it flow. I see too much tension (which doesn't exist in his workouts) and of course the timing issue I spoke of. Which I think could be resolved by not jumping as high.

No idea what he does on his freethrows as i haven't seen him take a single one. He probably squares both of his shoulders to the basket, which is what 99% of coaches will tell you to do, but it's wrong. Turn the feet so that your shooting shoulder and elbow aligns with the basket since you can't turn in the air by jumping on a freethrow.

We can now end the stupid speculation that Russell doesn't want to be a Sixer.

@DraftExpress: Contrary to reports, I'm told D'Angelo Russell would be thrilled to be play for Philadelphia. He says he had a great workout there this week

I turned against Russell? When did I do that? This is news to me. I love Russell and would be thrilled if we draft him. Please tell me when I turned against him. I'll wait.
