So about Afflalo... :-?

He's a below average NBA basketball player by any and all measures asides from inexplicable reputation.

this just means that Portland will offer him too much or less than he thinks he's worth and then he will walk from them further initiating the exodus from Port

no way mathews gets more than 10mil outside of Port who might be desperate enough to keep their team intact to offer it

and Affalo has dropped off, waaay off

I argued vehemently in his favor last year but seeing him play for Port really made me question those beliefs

He's worth the money, take him and don't look back. People think he's supposed to be some kind of offensive weapon but he isn't. It's his defense that gets the work done (coming from a Denver fan who's sad to see him gone again too soon)

Every one KNOWS the cap space is going to get crazy...and suddenly they know they are worth MORE. It's always going to be that way. That's fine. Any free agent overvaluing himself, puts himself over winning. The NY Knicks do NOT want that.

I would prefer the Knicks get shut out of free agency, rather than drop coin on a player who is a "maybe"

His defense is worse than his offense.

-1.84 RPM

Defrtg 105.6

Defends the 3 pt shot very well, but it otherwise terrible.

http://stats.nba.com/player/#!/201167/tracking/defense/

It's like that whatever statistical metric you favor. He's makes his team worse defensively when he's on the floor.

Only going to get worse next season and worse even that next season.

There will be no market correction coming soon. If you're advocating being shutout next year, you're advocating being shutout no less than the next 3 years.

Pay market prices, like everyone else.

Not advocating Matthews for $15m specifically, just saying if you're waiting for free agent discounts, it'll be a loooooong wait.

NO free agent is going to sign for less than market value for a 17 win team.

Ken Berger claiming Knicks are on Cousins "list" to be traded to.
http://www.cbssports.com/nba/writer/ken-berger/25222603/draft-buzz-possible-landing-spots-for-demarcus-cousins

We all know the 4th isn't enough, so instead of giving something up, we'd likely have to take Landry/Thompson as well. They both have 2 more years remaining with about $13 mil total each. Personally I'd rather just take a shot at a 19 year old, but I know everyone is enamored with this guy. Thoughts?

Monroe, Carroll, Green, Matthews, maybe Love, maybe Jordan, Milsap, Lopez (either), Ellis, Hibbert, Rondo, Asik, Young, more...

But i don't think anyone to the left side of Ellis is signing for much less than market value.

Only way the Knicks are getting Cousins is if he chokes out George Karl and gets suspended for half the season.

Interesting. You don't think we would need to outbid the market in order to get any of those guys to leave their current teams and join us?
