Kevon Looney Could Have Odom-Type Role In Triangle

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Mon Jun 22, 2015 3:14 pm

Kevon Looney grew up as a fan of the Los Angeles Lakers while Phil Jackson was head coach running the triangle offense.

Looney could be a strong fit in the New York Knicks' triangle, according to one Eastern Conference scout.

“He could be an [Lamar] Odom-type,” the scout said. “He can shoot it and score from the interior, pass and make plays off of the dribble. I like him there.”

Two separate scouts said recently that feel as if Looney is one of the most underrated players in the draft.

“We could be having a different conversation about Kevon Looney in five years,” one said.

Looney sees his versatility as a fit in the Knicks’ triangle offense.

“I can pass it, I can stretch the floor, I can dribble it,” he said. “I tried to show that in the workout. I think I did a pretty good job at that. Everybody in the workout was pretty versatile and those are the kind of players they want in the system.”

He can pass, he can shoot, he can score inside ...

So ... he's a basketball player.

This infatuation with "triangle type players" is really getting ridiculous. This is Phil Jackson blowin mist on every Knick fan to buy himself more time as he looks for "the right players for the triangle"

A) any decent all around player with a brain can run the triangle
B) If NY was so concerned that their players didn't fit the system ... how about (GASP) changing the system??? What's more important - winning games or the integrity of Phil's fav system??
