Question about Love, Monroe.

Post#1 » by zeebneeb » Tue Jun 23, 2015 9:29 pm

I am not one to usually start a topic, let alone one about a trade, but, with that said, the new wiretap is of interest to me.

Is it possible, if of course Monroe, and Love agree, for us to sign, and trade the two?

We could also throw in Jennings (as much as I love the idea of having him as a backup)as the cavs need a legitimate playmaker in case of injury, or the fact that they flat out need one (as obvious by the playoffs) to help score. They could hand us some throw in, or a draft pick to even out.

Just a question, as I think Love would fit quite well next to drummond, and make our bench (erson would then come off the bench) fantastic.

I also think it would chew up our capspace.

Like I said though, just a question. Is such a senerio possible?

I don't think its possible, and I don't think there is any scenario under which Love would agree to be signed and traded to us.

Obviously he'd fit well with Drummond, but he won't see it that way. If he wanted the type of situation we can offer he'd have stayed in Minnesota. We love Dre, but he's not good enough to draw free agents.

"Questions about Love..." you and me both.

I was just reading the WT about how an exec expects the Cavs to S&T Love. from the article,
For Love to be worthy of a max contract, Love needs to be a higher usage player as he was with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

“LeBron (James) needs to have the ball so much for you to be as good as you can be, and you need to be very selective about the guys who get to have it when he doesn’t,” David Griffin said. “You cannot have too much ball dominance around him.”

I doubt he would choose us, but there's a good argument to be made for what he could do in a SVG system paired next to Drummond.

The Cavs can't take back any more salary in a S&T but given Love's max is more than Monroe's, I'm pretty sure a S&T would be legal. As for Jennings, it likely would have to be for Haywood's non guaranteed deal in a separate transaction.

Getting Love or Kyrie without giving Drummond is the only way I'd help the Cavs win a title for Lebron's legacy.

Cool, thanks. I'm just wondering out loud, on wether or not we could get anything in a sign and trade, kinda like how we did for hill.

Unfortunately GMs have gotten much smarter when it comes to tossing a guy like Ben in and the CBA has wrecked the leverage to do a S&T. Guys in S&Ts can no longer get the 5th year or the higher raises. The only way we get something real back for Monroe is him deciding he wanted to go to a team over the cap and them giving us incentive to take back enough salary to make it work. I really think the Pelicans and Ryan Anderson is our only hope when it comes to getting tangible value back for Monroe.
