I wasn't advocating it but there's no guarantee we can get a competent PG in trade or free agency so might be a good idea to draft one anyway. I voted for Dekker but only if Ariza is gone, which I realize is unlikely.

Mark Jackson did get Rookie of the Year after being taken 18 and Bledsoe and Lawson had very good rookie seasons.

different era
back then most draftees play 3 or 4 years in NCAA
now most only one year

anyway any pg in the nba is better than injured Beverley + 38 years old Terry and Prigioni

I'd trade the pick because I don't think anyone in the middle of the first round would be able to help much immediately. However, if we keep the pick, I'd take Tyus Jones because I think he'd be the best player left (and would fill a need) Although I'd be fine with Dekker or RJ Hunter

That's a totally fair point, although I think it's more of the exception than the rule. Picks 20 through 30 last year (not counting Capela) were Bruno Caboclo, Mitch McGary, Jordan Adams, Rodney Hood, Shabazz Napier, PJ Hairston, Bogdan Bogdanovic, CJ Wilcox, Josh Huestis & Kyle Anderson. Of those guys, maybe one or two could be in the rotation for a playoff team.

If anything, it just goes to show that
A) The draft is a crapshoot
&
B) Morey has a pretty good eye for talent and I'd feel safe with whoever he chooses

Harden is still a work-in-progress. He can score, but he can't help his teammate that much - Yao Ming

If Brewer can't be retained and the pick isn't traded, Dekker makes a ton of sense. Once his 3 ball starts going better, he'll be a very strong player in the NBA.

I like the Ariza reference... obviously he wants to be in Houston with JJ. :cowboy:
