This is really all that needs to be said.

MKG could play 70 games and we'd be in the playoffs. We were above .500 with him in there and won six games out of the 31 that he either missed or got injured in. Just need him to be healthy. Even in this disaster of a season that pretty much showed Kemba, Jefferson, and Lance all at their rock-bottom form, we really weren't terribly far from the playoffs. MKG plays 10-15 more games and we're in there against a Hawks team that did NOT look sharp in the first round.

Agreed, it's hard to not think back to the first game of the season against the Bucks who were firing on all cylinders. We won that game despite Clifford not starting Zeller and holding out Biyombo completely. If it wasn't injuries it was us shooting ourselves in the foot like that all season. And then when we did finally turn the corner just in time to compete for the 6 seed Zeller and MKG went down. I really hope we can have a healthier season next year.

I told Michael Kidd-Gilchrist his good-luck charm — a Hornets bracelet — was not enough to appease the basketball gods. “I see that now!” he said, laughing. Kidd-Gilchrist is spending the summer working out in Charlotte with teammates, and he says he’s not stressed that Mark Price, the shooting guru who helped MKG rework his shot, has left to coach at UNC Charlotte. “I learned a lot from him, but it doesn’t affect me at all,” Kidd-Gilchrist said. “I’m just gonna continue to work hard.”

It’s a slow process. Defenders still leave MKG wide open to clog the paint, and Kidd-Gilchrist can’t sniff 3-point range. But he shot 50 percent from between 10 and 16 feet away, and 37 percent on long 2s — solid marks. It’s misleading to compare that with marks for guys like Dirk Nowitzki and LaMarcus Aldridge, who drain contested midrangers with such lethality that they draw extra defensive attention. They might shoot 65 percent on the looks defenses give Kidd-Gilchrist. But a bunch of bad shooters never nailed the first mini-breakthrough Kidd-Gilchrist appears to have made. That includes Tony Allen, the most obvious veteran comparison for MKG. “I was just so happy,” Kidd-Gilchrist said of his improvement. “All the hard work paid off.”

-Zach Lowe of course

MKG really improved his shot a lot this season, but there are still many things to improve in order to make him normal SF who can make Kemba & Al work easier. If he will work on this things this offseason, I guess he can be this normal SF even in 2015-16 season.

In your opinion, what is a "normal SF"?

Normal SF is a SF who can make his 3-point shots often. In the last season, (2013-14), MKG was really limited our offense because Kemba worked a lot to make him open for threes and even for two's but MKG couldn't make it into the basket. This year he was better and scored some FGs but there is still work to do in order to make him real shooter, like every SF need to be.

So when you say "there are still many things to improve," you really just mean outside shooting?

His ball handling, outside shooting, shooting style. If he was only need to improve his outside shooting, I wasn't said that there are many things to improve.

Wow, Terrence Ross, Khris Middleton, and Harrison Barnes above MKG?? That seems pretty silly. Honestly, I think Beal and Green are stretches as well.

Yea i dont get the Ross thing, even Raps fans think he sucks. Harriston has the GS hype behind him so i get that and Middleton has hit game winners so that boosts him some. Green has hype too, but you can make a legit case for him above MKG.

I think Beal isn't s good/impactful as MKG, more injury prone too but like the others he has good playoff games under his belt.

teams need/fit not taken into account

1-Davis, by a lot.
2-Lillard, star PG
3-Drummond, beastly rebounder, not that good at other things
4-Green, good all-around PF/fat SF
5-MKG, elite perimeter defender
6-Beal, very good shooter not much else IMO
7-Middleton, good 3&D player
8-Harrison Barnes, same as Middleton
9-Zeller, solid all-around center
10-Terrance Jones, good all-around PF
11-Myers Leonard, if his 50/40/90 shooting is legit someone would take him high
12-Evan Fournier, solid 3pt specialist SG
13-Henson, good shot blocker off the bench
14-Waiters, headcase but is talented

Ross, he jumps high....thats pretty much it
Sullinger, fat, doesn't play defense and is very inefficient

if anything, this should tone down expectations for lottery picks. if you can get a starter you've done well

JDR basically summed up my thoughts: I can understand why someone would take Beal or Green over MKG, though I wouldn't, and Drummond/MKG is close too. Barnes and Ross...no, but it's nice to see MKG moving back up. Wasn't that long ago he was listed behind Mike Scott on one of these lists.

i think beal is overrated right now. Gets the benefit of playing with john wall and still looks pretty piss poor to me. he's only 21 though
