Not a surprise, I expect us to go for a scoring two. So maybe a back-up plan if we can't get Stuckey back? Monta is better and obviously, way more expensive.

Broussard has always tried to pitch Ellis to Indy, but there's never been any proof of it; usually the opposite. Add in Bird's respect for Carlisle, and the fact that Carlisle has no interest in even attempting to re sign the guy; he wished him the best of luck and kicked him out.
Plus, we just can't sign him. We only have the MLE or we have to work a s&t where we send out Hibbert and vastly overpay Monta.
Personally, I'd rather have Stuckey for a lot less.

Yeah I'd easily prefer Stuckey back. Ellis will want a decent amount more than 10 mil a year. And Ellis isn't young anymore.

I like Ellis and would like to see him next to George. That being said, I think we've got mini-Ellis here with Stuckey, and he's not as big of a name so he won't be demanding money.

Would rather have Stuckey, also. I am glad we are all seeing eye to eye. I thought maybe I would be the outcast.

Ellis is an under sized SG and would be a defensive liability.

I'm sorry guys, i see im in the minority here but i'd love Ellis on the Pacers. A true scorer and a legit #2 option behind Paul George?
He's a gamer and not afraid to try to take games over.
I know you guys are saying Stuckey > Ellis but if they choose not to sign Ellis, then who else can they bring in to help score points besides PG?

considering this is the 3rd franchise Ellis has been banished from, I don't see the interest. He can score points, but give up more and disenfranchise his teammates. Doesn't sound like a great add.

Yeah, Stuckey is a solid locker room guy and what he lacks in chucking he makes up for in physical, bruising play. They're comparable slashers but Stuckey wears defenses down more (especially if he maintains his much-improved shooting form).

So, who else can the Pacers bring in to help win games? Stuckey is a nice player, and is coming off a nice season, but he's got limitations. We can't just waste PG with a young squad who isn't fairly serious about winning, right?

Re: Pacers Interested in Monta Ellis
why wouldn't young guys be serious about winning? we need a game ready 4 and Kaminsky, WCS, Lyles, or Portis could all be that and three of them played in the championship game so they know something about winning. we also need a backup two and I think we can buy the 28 if not something higher and fill that hole.

The players would be serious but young teams rarely win in the NBA.
Starting 5 of Hill, Stuckey, PG, draft pick and Roy is fighting in that 5-8 spot all year.

I'll join your minority I feel like pg an Ellis would make a hell of a pairing.Grang33r wrote:I'm sorry guys, i see im in the minority here but i'd love Ellis on the Pacers. A true scorer and a legit #2 option behind Paul George?

Re: Pacers Interested in Monta Ellis
Im usually in the minority when it comes to players who arent choir boys. But this time I have to say I wouldnt sign Ellis for the contract he commands. I like him. He scores with the best of them. But he also is erratic. Hill and Miles are already an erratic backcourt, so I dont see how Ellis would be an upgrade. He hasnt been a game changer anywhere he has been. If Indy signs him he could possibly give the team some fierce competitive drive. With Stephenson leaving last season and West opting out this season this team no longer has a real identity. The downward spiral I was concerned about is gaining momentum.

The answer to that question has just been traded to the Clippers.
Vogel is Dutch for Bird.

I think Miles starts and Stuckey comes off the bench. if we draft a rookie who deserves to start ahead of Scola/Allen/Damo, then we got a great pick.

Sounds like Ellis has picked his preferred destinations and Indy isn't one. That equals over-payment needed to get him to the Pacers.
Does that throw a wrench into anyone's views on him?

Re: Pacers Interested in Monta Ellis
wing is our strongest position. if we're going after a free agent there, I want a defender not a chucker. Ellis was never on my wish list.

Re: Pacers Interested in Monta Ellis
On a good team Ellis is a 3rd guard. Doesn't sound like he's ready to submit to that role. Historically he has played the 2 in a small backcourt that defends badly as a result.
