D Mike Reilly considering signing with Hawks!

Post#1 » by GRADEN » Thu Jun 18, 2015 6:03 pm

21 year old exercised his 6/15 clause and is free from CBJ

He is a very talented and NHL ready prospect not to mention a Chicago native

Reports are its us or LA....

Could be a really good low number signing if true... Not a big guy at all, but the skill is there

Scouting report...

Offensive heavy Dman saw large growth spurt over 3 college seasons from like 5'9 170 (where he was drafted 4th rd) to like 6'0 190.... Gifted shot and has great speed, but not physical.... Nick Leddy is the comparison being said

Don't know how the Hawks will be able to afford him, but that would be awesome. D is the biggest need.

He opted out as he will make more than his 4th rd comp now but shouldn't be too bad...

If he's cheap enough then I'd look at it. Could he allow us to let Oduya walk and either he or TVR take his spot in the second pairing?

I'd love this scenario

Seabs / keith
Sign Petry (soooooooo under-rated) / Hjalmarson
TvR / sign paul Martin 1 year (another super under-rated guy)

Now martin would have to take less and Petry make have too many suitors for us to give him a reasonable deal... He is worth what we gave Oduya and is bigger and younger than he was at the same signing date.

That would be a top 6 defense that would likely be the best defensive top 3 lines in all the NHL and then sign Reilly for 2/1.5

Petry 3/10
Martin 1 / 1.25
Reilly 2/1.5

This would mean we were able to deal sharp / bicks / and steeger while retaining saad but these 3 defenseman would be a dream scenario

I don't get why anyone would have thought he was a realistic option for the Hawks. At this moment, the Hawks are capped out. Not until July 1 could they add anyone unless it's via trade. Sucks he picked the Wild, though. But after playing at Minnesota and knowing the area, I'm not surprised in the slightest.

We thought that because trades happen creating space and he was interested in us
