Re: Lakers moving up the list for Aldrige
We moved up Alridge list when we started trying to trade for cousins
Hello folks this is what the **** I've been saying. No guy worth his salt wastes his fn prime of his career on Randle, 2, Clarkson ... BUT you get their **** attention when you're talking about pairing them with a 24/12 a night proven monster. Wake up to the real world and not 2ks association folks.
You can sign LA after trading for cousins, add them to Kobe, and have the room exception to fill out a wing spot. Hell if not a wing at the 3mil price suck that **** up and offer rondo a one year, you do good by us, we do good by you and will pay you next year deal to start here for a year since cousins and Kobe both have said they want to play with him (it is what Jerry and Jerry sat down and did with Rick Fox to get him long ago - know your freaking history). And the fact nicks so called bad contract is oh so small over the next 3 years at less than 5 mil means you can have a guy who spaces the floor (he shot the 3 ball great for a guy with a broken thumb on his shooting hand and no camp). Don't be shocked to see guys like Matt Barnes, Javale McGee, and the like all sign on at the vet min to fill out that bench when they have actual talent and name value for them to leech off of and get national coverage

The real question is would we have the cap to sigh LA after trading for Okafor?
Assuming we dont take any bad contract back

None of these options are available if the lakers settle and sign 3rd tier players to long term deals like some around here would have them do.

Without Randle and Clarkson we have 28mil. Without Kelly it goes up to 30. Cousins makes 13, so that leaves 17 for LA. The key would be sending Kelly the **** away. Nick at least can provide something to the team, but if you can flip them both away as well you open up 35mil, which minus cousins and with capholds shakes out about what 32-33? I mean its doable if you're dumping Randle, Clarkson, and Kelly all

Okafor and Randle are a bad match... But Cousins and LMA are a perfect fit?
These deals are mutually exclusive.

The key is trading Nick young in that Cousins deal.. then we have somewhere close to offer to LA

None of y'all even wanted to trade the pick. Let's get one thing straight I'm the guy who said trade the damn thing it's an asset at 1-2 and I rather have the lower range of 4 and below (which is what we would have if we got 6 back) for guys like Mudiay and Mario. I said if you're keeping the rookies from #2 and Randle, you can't waste your time and pile up losses, you need actual talent so split the cap on lesser guys so you have a core. I've never once said max out anyone including Marc or Dragic, just try to give them high enough salary that they might entertain it, give the rest to another guy, and use the room exception on actual talent unlike last year. And lastly I said we can't punt the cap like we did with Lin and Hill by entertaining David Lee or Ed Davis. Hell even for all the **** I get about rondo, I've maintained give him at most what Nash got and hopefully a lot less actually.
Selling this pick, Randle, and Clarkson is essentially doing what I advocated for especially if you're looking at 6 coming back. You get cousins, you draft Mudiay and Mario, you clear costs with Kelly and offer the rest of our cap up to a free agent like LA (even if he asks for a 2 year deal with a player opt to make it back), you offer rondo a make good deal, and you have Kobe and Nick.
Rondo
Kobe
Mario
LA
Cousins
Swaggy
That gets you a seat at KDs table
Clarkson, Randle, and Okafor when 29 other teams all have space gets you laughed at

Now this is a move I could get used to. Would love Aldridge in purple and gold.
