Other than both being good defenders (of course Mike is superior in that) what characteristics do you think are duplicated in Batum and MKG? I think their whole game is different - passing, cutting lanes, preferred shots and where they usally take them etc.
Whole day during work I was thinking about this (when I wasn't sneak on to play Chivalry-Medievel Warfare - **** awesome game, check it out), and I don't think they will clash if they'll be on the floor at the same time.
Their best position is SF, most of their value is on the defensive end (less-so with Batum, to be fair), and neither guy can create their own shot with any sort of consistency. We needed a SG who could create for others and score at volume, plus be a quality outside shooter. That is exactly the sort of player who fits with MKG, anything else is going to be awkward in various ways.
The fact we're gonna have to give Batum $20m+ next summer is just the **** icing on that cake. He's simply not worth that kind of scratch unless he's the last piece pushing your team over the top (like Iggy for the Warriors).
This is such an awful trade on so many levels. What is our best-case scenario? Playoffs? And then what? Who aside from MKG and maaaaybe Zeller (if we keep either of them) projects to be any better in 2017 than they are now? So at best we're locked into the 6th-8th seed. Swell.
