http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/238323/Magic-Trade-Luke-Ridnour-To-Grizzlies

This deal is likely a financial move as Ridnour sits on a Non-Guarantee contract. He's likely to be waived as to provide the Grizzlies leverage to have more cap room to retain Marc Gasol.

I would have to disagree, this would not clear up much if any cap room for Memphis above what they already have available prior to the trade, it gives Orlando a TPE, but most likely Ridnour is more of a backup plan to whatever management is trying to finagle, whether that is trading Russ, Trading/cutting Calathes, or whatever, as a whole I like this move for the Grizzlies as they gave up nothing and they get back a veteran 4th point option who has shown he can at least run a team or the back up in the long term, I would have rathered Jameer Nelson, but he is most likely to opt out if he hasnt already, Ridnour has gotten a bad rap over the last couple years, but if you look at his stat line and his overall play, he isnt bad for a reserve point guard especially on the defensive end and in his overall BBIQ and passing, I personally like this trade and I believe he is a solid upgrade on Calathes if we are ever put into the situation we were this post season.

yeah it feels like he is a keeper, a financial move would be trading for Brendan Haywood and then cutting him, releasing Ridnour would not move the needle financially, as for Marc I think he resigns and for less then what he could have gotten, but still a raise for him which would be fair

The thought around the league is Memphis is targeting Matt Barnes and CHA wants RIdnour since they save a little bit of money and can get a nice TPE, but i would expect Memphis might even expand the trade, If memphis is targeting Barnes, I would not be surprised if they sent Carter to his hometown crowd around UNC , with Vince's kicker clause they can trade Vince + Leur for Hawes straight up, and then Hornets can cut Leur for even more cap and VC contract is partially guaranteed this year and next

FINALLY, something we can agree upon, which actually scares me a bit. :o

I just don't know we could be so lucky to offload Vince for Barnes but that would be liquid gold.

the best part about a
Barnes + Hawes for Carter+Leur+Ridnour trade is that we get a 3 point shooting vet wing player and a backup big and we still have our draft pick and we still have the full MLE, so we can use the MLE to fill whatever hole we have left such as grabbing a 3 point bomber like Marco Bellinelli

I think according to the Larry Coon Rules, if a player gets traded to a team and then gets traded to another team, the team who acquired said player would have to trade that player within 48 or 72 hours before it becomes three months before said player like Barnes can be officially traded to another team.

Well we dont have to trade Ridnour now, since no draft picks of this draft are being exchanged this is a move we could make in September before the season begins, but have it essentially written out today. but then you run into that Ridnour and Leurs contract come into effect, so very possible Hornets give us more of like a "holding" piece (like 2 seconds or something) for Ridnour and Leur and just let the hornets cut them and then after September we move the holding piece and Carter over to the Hornets for Barnes, its complex, but its doable. Another possibility is if RHJ is available at 21 Memphis trades Ridnour and 25 to the Mavs for Felton, 21, and 56

But as I understand the Larry Coon rules its if the player is traded along with another player, check out my thread I made and see the trade break down , Hawes and Barnes are in separate trades just happen to coincide one after another.

Ridnour can only be traded with a draft pick and not with another player, and I think his deal becomes guaranteed at some point in time or a certain date that the move must be made or he is on the books

Im sticking with that Matt Barnes is coming to memphis and Ridnour is going to OKC. http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/238341/Jeremy-Lamb-To-Be-Traded-To-Hornets

Im guessing its

Lamb + PJ III to CHA

Barnes to Memphis

and Ridnour and a second from CHA to OKC ,

why?
1.saves OKC some money
2. Memphis gets Matt Barnes basically for free
3. Lamb has been highly coveted by Charlotte and in particular Kemba Walker

Looks like Lamb will be moving to Charlotte, but it's Barnes that's going to OKC in return. Best case scenario would be if the Grizz are going after Barnes, they could get after him in free agency once OKC waives him outright.

Everything I have seen seems to allude that its a 3 team trade with OKC shedding more cap and NOT getting Barnes, that has yet to be completed because the league office was closed

Really, I am little surprised, because he kinda has that grit and grind already and "he won't back down", to be honest acquiring Barnes today would be more exciting to me then any draft pick, unless it was a top five pick which we don't have the assets to pull off.

He was also originally drafted by the Grizz, so he would be coming home - kinda

Not really as it is only Matt Barnes, now if by some minor miracle it was LeBron James, I can't guarantee you would not have to hide the tissue.
