He has had all the expectations in the world and he has met every single challenge with flying colors - crushed them.

Now a player that has an incredible work out (Towns) and a player who is saying all the right things (Russell) are jumping him in the draft? Just seems odd to me.

Basically, my biggest concern is us overthinking this thing too much... we might have a prodigy dropping right into our laps for no real good reason other than the notoriously moronic T-Wolves are reactively choosing the wrong player and the best 3 point shooting team in the history of the NBA just won an NBA Championship with a 6' 8 center.

First of all, it's pretty safe to assume we're not dealing with a LeBron type prospect. Those guys come along only every 10 years or so, if we're lucky. He was pegged to be a can't-miss superstar, and he was. Okafor is very talented, but he's not on that level.

Second, it's not really odd at all. It's actually been pretty well chronicled. Whether these conclusions are right, we'll have to wait and see. The draft is an educated crap shoot. But the reasoning why Towns is going to go No. 1, and why Russell might jump Okafor, is sound.

Was it safe to say that Michael Jordan wasn't going to be MJ? Or Kobe wasn't going to be Kobe? Or D-Wade was going to be D-Wade?

My point was very clear: I'm worried we might pass on someone great.

And my thinking is equally as sound... Okafor has surpassed every expectation when expectations were incredibly high.

Fair points. But that's the draft. It's all an educated gamble. There are very, very few sure things. I'm equally worried we're about to pass up a potentially transcendent point guard, to the point I'm pretty sure I'll be disappointed if we take Okafor. There's nothing odd at all why Russell and Towns can/will go ahead of him. It's all been spelled out in draft coverage.

It all depends on the type of Basketball you want to Play.

If the Coach wants a solid Point who can pass and nail the 3 ball.

over an Al Jefferson type of player you have to match the Coach
with the point guard.

Russel, Randle and maybe Clarkson and a Big FA.

Looking at Houston,
Harden dominated games Offensively compared to Dwight.

There is merit to the Russell leverage... Our 2016 pick that Philly owns is only top 3 protected... We draft Russell & Philly drafts Okafor & we get Okafor for $500,000.00 less & Philly removes the protection... There is game there... That being said, I WANT Russell... The game has changed... Russell & Clarkson would work great together... Kobe moves to SF... Grab a big & play ball...

I'm still favoring Okafor over D'Angelo, but I wouldn't be mad at all if the Lakers pick the Buckeye lol

He actually did one on an episode of Sports Science. You can find the video on YouTube. As I remember it was decent.

Apparently he has 39 inches vertical. AND covers more ground than Kawhi. I want that.

Okay that was what I saw on Sports Science.

I wouldn't exactly put logic and sam hinkie in the same sentence, we love shooting down ideas and saying teams would demand more, yet time and time again we have seen some lopsided trades happen and you usually love shooting down such thoughts. YOU may be thinking with logic, however it's completely stupid to assume these GMs may think using that logic. We already know Phi's grand plan is starting to show its kinks with Embiid's reported setback so who knows what Hinkie is thinking.

I quoted you cause it allowed me to capture both comments. I apologize if it seemed it was directed solely at you.

Regarding Hinkie, I think he's done an awesome job for only being on the job for two years. He took a gamble with Embiid but the logic behind the move is sound. We'll see how it works out.

I've thought about it long and hard. I think this is like if Kobe and Duncan were in the same draft (in terms of playing styles, etc).

I think Russell is in the classic Lakers mold. I think he would electrify this town.

I'd be stoked for Okafor, and I love the prospect of going against the grain as a strategy...but I think deep down I want that excitement again. Enough trading for flawed 2nd tier players, I want youth revolution post-Kobe.

I voted for Russell and it tied both he and Okafor at 24 votes a piece. It's #24's last season...I think that's a good sign

Because Pau can actually play some defense

He has excellent footwork and nimble feet on offense, he just needs to learn how to use it on defense and put it on practice -not that it's easy-. He can be the kind of defensive presence that Marc Gasol or Andrew Bogut are, no need to be a shotblocker like DeAndre.

His defensive problems are overstated, the same with Hezonja's 'bad attitude' ;)

I'm wondering if leaking the Russell stuff is at all meant to force Vlade's hand (assuming they want to replace DMC with Okafor).
