Yes and yes. Would the Cavs have a bigger chance at an upset? Sure, but I don't see any reason to believe the Rockets and Clippers wouldn't clearly be the favorites.
The Cavs put up a valient effort in the Finals, no doubt, but the reason why a lot of the games ended up being relatively close was more of a fact the Warriors started the series pretty lackluster and underperformed over the first 3 games. Once they've made a couple adjustments and the players themselves started playing better it was obvious the Cavs, especially in their state at the time, were unlikely to come close to winning again.

But in his home dwelling...the hi-top faded warrior is revered. *Smack!* The sound of his palm blocking the basketball... the sound of thousands rising, roaring... the sound of "get that sugar honey iced tea outta here!"

All-Season Player of the Year Discussion thread
Player of the Year
1) Stephen Curry
2) LeBron James
3) James Harden
4) Chris Paul
5) Anthony Davis
HM: Westbrook
1. Curry:
Best combination for best regular season and postseason by a solid margin.
Has a case for best postseason as well.
Every metric shows Curry as the best player.
Boxscore, advanced metrics, +/- family.
2-4.
All three incredibly close. Almost interchangeable.
Going with LeBron, because in the 2nd half of the season and especially the postseason, he was the most impactful of the bunch because of his 2-way impact.
Went with Harden at 3. He was actually tied with Paul, but Paul missing 2 crucial games because of his hamstring makes me prefer the more durable player.
5. Went back and forth between Davis and Westbrook here. Had them tied to be honest, but Davis had a great first round and seems to be a tad more impactful.
Shoutout to Griffin, expanded his game last summer with his improved shooting, which hurt him in the RS, but payed off tremendously in the PS.
More versatility made him unguardable.
