Also low steals and blocks in college are one of the biggest red flags for Defensive awareness and/or the athleticism to take advantage of that awareness. Both issues aren't easy to fix

Well McD always said they'd take BPA in the draft regardless of fit. He's got a beautiful (and I mean BEAUTIFUL) shooting stroke for someone his age. I could watch it all day.

Good thing is he's only 18, but his handles are very good for a wing. Klay Thompson 2.0?

This kid won't make it in the league man. His shot is going to have to be amazing (like korver esque) to justify leaving him on the floor in a playoff game. Not many guys you see that are just three point shooters without the defense. Hopefully I'm wrong and he develops into a good defender, but there's no signs to say he might other than him just being young. Even his shooting is somewhat wasted on a team like us that doesn't run very many screens for shooters.

How is he a mediocre athlete if he had the fastest agility time at the combine? Plus, how can you assess a guy's defensive potential at 18? He has good size and we need shooting.

I guess the question here is do you take the great defensive prospect and teach him to shoot (RHJ) or the great shooter and teach him to defend (booker). I happen to think that teaching shooting is much easier and requires less innate ability and awareness.

Tell that to Archie Goodwin.

At 18 he's probably not ready to play. But by all accounts he's a good guy who's dad played pro ball in Europe and he knows the work it will take to make it as a pro. A bright side of the suns podcast a couple weeks ago mention him as the guy who stood out of the guys they interviewed. Seemed mature beyond his age.

It's a pick where you hope he's Thompson but who knows. I do feel like his floor is pretty high because guys who can flat out shoot have a place in a rotation even if the suck at other things.

The game is changing. In a league where Kyle Korver made the All-Star game just by shooting well, Booker is a great pick at 13.

Archie has actually improved his shot quite a bit!

Yes it's improved but its still not very good and he's obviously been working pretty hard on it. That just shows how hard it can be to fix a broken shot and how long it can take.

What's with the Klay Thompson comparisons? I get the shooting part, but isn't Klay a pretty good defender? I don't think Booker is much of a defender at this point

Klay wasn't a very good defender coming out of college and had "athletic limitations" so you can see why the comparison is a pretty easy one to make. Obviously Booker has a lot of work to do if he wants to get to that level of player though.

I am biased since I'm an Arizona fan and watched him all season, but I'm sad we didn't take RHJ.

I like the pick, Len, Warren, and Booker could be good

very young though, just 18? I think he is a better prospect than Archie for sure, i'd keep him and Bogdan

Just do me a favor guys

can we not call him the next Klay just cause of his skin tone

he's much more in the Reddick mold than the Thompson mold

Before Thompson was drafted, he was compared to Reddick, Belinelli etc. Just saying.

I'm not liking the pick but I'm willing to give McD the benefit of the doubt since I did like what I saw from Warren and Archie in the minutes they got and Len is already my favourite player on the team.

Best player available and fits a need (Suns were pretty bad from 3 point land last season). Hopefully Knight/Booker can become our splash brothers :)

I watched his Draft Express strengths vid and for the people who love Warren's cutting and moving without the ball, this guy's really good at that as well.

If he could learn some other stuff besides shooting he'd be a really good player. I'm not sure the Suns are the right team to teach him those things though. :/
